If you're only in KL for a short visit (as I was) make sure to stop by Vishal for some excellent banana leaf rice. Despite having read about this place before visiting, I was a little confused about the whole ordering process when I walked in. I sat down and was immediately helped. As I learned, the banana leaf is... More

this is the place to go if you are ready to be eating with your hands (spoons and forks are available upon request). Food is basic Rise, sauce, Dal and Different kinds of chicken and fish. Everythign is served in Banana leaves and tastes superb. I can highly recommend the place

I am quite puzzled the positive reviews and high ratings received by this restaurant. The food is below average, the service is poor and the cleanliness is very poor. Perhaps those we rated it high are those not familiar with South Indian food. As someone familiar with banana leaf rice, I find is rather disappointing and nothing special at all.... More

Authentic south Indian food. Be prepared to share communal tables and water. Go on a cool day and when its not busy.

We chose a couple of meat dishes (chicken and mutton), which were delicious, and a veg tofu (very spicy!). It comes with a banana leaf thali: rice and a few vegetable sauces. The mango lassies were excellent. It doesn't seem inviting from the outside, but the staff treated us very nicely and we really enjoyed our meal.

We had dinner here and it was very enjoyable. It is a very local, authentic place and although the staff don't speak a lot of English, the owner can, and it doesn't matter as they are friendly and helpful. They will show you the food on offer and you can pick what you like to go along with the standard... More

We were staying in a condominium just around the road and had read many good reports about Vishal's. We went for weekday lunch and were not disappointed. The restaurant was very busy with locals and we appeared to be the only Westerners there. The staff were very helpful and we had a great meal and enjoyed all the dishes we... More

Best South Indian Food in the neighborhood. Can be busy at times and may have to wait for a table. Specializes in Chettinad cuisine
