Pre-MCO visit Youmiqi 有米气 has been in the Shunde food scene for a long time. Making Old Klang Road (very near to Mid Valley Megamall) it's home for many many years, Shunde is Cantonese food originated from the Guangdong province. For the longest time, Shunde...cuisine focus on "Xian" (鮮) - the freshness and umami taste in each and every dish. This brand was already established in Guangdong province of China, and brought in by local businessman. For the uninitiated, Shunde style of cooking is similar to our own Cantonese style of cooking. We arrived very early that evening, just as they had just opened their door for business. Only few limited parkings available in front of the restaurant. You'd probably notice few lion dance head hanging in one part of the restaurants as you explore this standalone building - I'd guess a former bungalow turned into commercial purpose. As there were only two of us, we couldn't order much... Sticking to our original plan with 2 other dishes. ◾Shunde Braised Live Seafood - one of the signature dishes of Youmiqi. Everything was served in a huge copper wok, the seafood hotpot can be customised based on sizes (number of diners) and ingredients. The available seafood will be listed, and I just ordered crabs and fresh oysters. The addition of seafood actually made the broth thicker and sweeter as time goes by. I could use enjoy the seafood and drink up the broth if I want to. Price varies depending on type of seafood that you choose. ◾Pan fried black fungus with fish paste - simply love the flavourful and springy-ness of the fish paste stuffed on the black fungus which provides the much needed crunch. ◾Pan fried fish lips - when I saw the fish lips in the menu, I tak boleh tahan and must order this dish. Packed with the collagen and I simply love sucking everything down to the bone. If you love fish lips, order this. Another signature dish will be their porridge steamboat but this will wait until my next venture do this location. I'd say it's worth coming for the seafood hotpot alone.. but it can be a very expensive affair if you order the seafood lavishly.More

expensive, small serving, aloof service by the Chinese waitress, long wait for food. Take your money elsewhere, peeps.

nice soup and relatively healthy diet. The standing chicken does not taste great or any different to me.

I'd rate this place between Average & Very good. Parking is limited. Service is good only when they have time to come to you, otherwise it's hard to find any service staff despite our table being the 1st one after the front door, short handed...I reckon. Menu comes with attractive pictures on the dishes presented/available, ordering is easy only if you can read Chinese. Floor manager who took our orders was not helpful in any way on making recommendations. RSVP required especially on a Friday night, and if you are planning to dine in private rooms upstairs. Taste wise, food was yummy and easy on the palate, Shunde cuisine is somewhat like Cantonese cuisine, heavy & a bit on the salty side. The price is on the steep side, however the quality of its food quite justify the charges. Beware that the serving portion (per dish) is just right for our group of 10 pax, big eaters will need to order more dishes to make do.More

This is the second time I’m here and the first time I bought my friends. We’re all very impressed with the dishes. What really impact us though is the service. The two waitress who was working tonight was very helpful, helping us get our eatigo...discount that was rejected because of system error. We forgot to get their names but they’re the only two female stuff there. Highly recommend the place. We sincerely hope that the owner can convey our thanks to them because we left really late and they were already off by then.More

Organised a reunion dinner with my colleagues one week ago. Stepping in the restaurant, many antique-styled yet unique decor that create a harmony, cosy ambience that allow you to enjoy the foods here. We ordered a hotpot with seafoods like tiger fish, prawn, crab, and...abalone. Inside the hotpot also come together with veggie, yam and mushroom. One more dish to highlight is the fried muntou, it’s very delicious. Overall the foods was great. Just the manpower seem like not enough during CNY. Anyway, I will make a return when visiting to KL area to this restaurant.More

Food - 2/5, nothing worthy base on price point Service- 0/5 , no service to talk about Value - 1/5 , if you think paying 5 X for food that is worthless , By all means !!! Professionalism -0/5, Captain is unable to recommend food...properly , maybe underpaid or unwilling worker or slavery .. seriously , there are thousand of reasons for the unprofessionalism ... Integrity- 1/5, Ask about the fish , gave a generic fish name , found out later that it was a highly expensive range , didn’t disclose the pricing properly Ambience- 5/5 nice ambience! THAT’S ALL!!! I would give “0” for the final verdict ,,, meaning the restaurant should just shut down . If you think it is deserving the price for the ambience with mediocre service and value for the food , well, I guess you understand nothing about the value of money . Anyway , they are hoping dumbxxxx like you and me to foot their new Reno-and rental. I’m dumb once .... I hope others learn from me .More

Our first time experience today. Booked the place for 2 using Tableapps and got 20% discount for certain time period, e.g. 1.30 pm. Food was unique as we have never quite a number of them before. Things to take note: 1. This place is located...at the of Old Klang Road, near Mid Valley / Federal Highway 2. Parking space is very limited 3. Make sure you ask the price of food which is stated "Seasonal" before you decide to order 4. Make sure you bring at least one person who can speak Mandarin ( most of their people come from China including their chef ) Do enjoy!More
