We decided to stop for lunch today after driving by many times and was pleasantly surprised! The chopped barbecue platter was what we had come to expect from nc pit cooked barbecue. Portions were large and our waitress was pleasant and attentive.Hush puppies were good. Only criticism was with onion rings-made with minced onion.

Not a bad place, but I was kind of disapointed! I may have just hit on a bad day, but my food was way to salty! Might have just been a slip on that day, but been shy to go back because of!

BBQ had no flavor and the pulled BBQ had the consistency of mushy baby food. Even the fries had no flavor or seasoning. And the roll that comes with the meal, is just a hamburger bun. Very disappointing.

Whispering Pines BBQ is a great classic BBQ restaurant that's been in Albemarle for as long as I can remember. The BBQ is excellent!!!! They have a "recipe" that they've used for decades, and it's stayed the same. High quality meat, excellent slaw, tasty fries and hush puppies!!! We love it!!! I'd definitely recommend it!!!

I have lived in stanly county for 41 years and have eaten at and enjoyed pines for 41 years until recently when i visited another bbq place in concord nc. I would liken it to the difference between eating dollar store chocolate and good quality artisan chocolate, you don't realize what your not getting until you get i. In its... More

This is one of the most favored barbecue places in Albemarle. Put smoked barbecue floats in the air from the fires that cook the meat. They also have delicious chicken tender plates that are one of my favorites. You can get a tray if you're not really hungry but if you're "starving" go for the plate and the two sides.... More

The chopped BBQ is very good, with a great hickory smoked flavor. Ordered the chopped plate which included fries, hushpuppies and red slaw. All the other items were great along with the pork. The service is very quick and always there to help you with anything you need. I've had the curbside service too and it is also excellent. The... More

If your in the area then don't miss this little gem. Local North Carolinians eat BBQ here! Very un assuming from the outside but chock full of southern charm and terrific food. They are typically busy for a reason. I will not miss Whispering Pines BBQ when I get back to town and you should do the same.

My husband and I entered and sat at the counter because there were a number of booths that had yet to be cleaned. They were busy, after sitting for 10 minutes my husband was ready to leave. Because I saw how busy they were I was more patient, (it would have been nice if someone acknowledge us that they would... More
