We arrived Nagasaki on the Royal Caribbean cruise and had 8 hours to spend on a free and easy day trip. We chanced upon a very traditional restaurant while shopping at Hamanmachi and thought it might be a good place to stop for lunch. There was no queue at the time we arrived (slightly after 12pm), but there was some... More

A very traditional restaurant! Very popular with both tourists and locals. We ordered the Steam Egg Set, it was absolutely delicious! The steam egg had the right wobble, seasoned well with so much ingredients incorporated! It came with a braised pork belly as well as seasonal vegetable! Would visit again! We came in a car, so parked up in a... More

We were a group of 15, and we each ordered different sets. All of us came in excited, thinking that we'd be eating in the best-rated restaurant in Nagasaki. We all left disappointed. The chawanmushi was stale; the rice meals were nothing special. The sushi was pretty good but nothing life-changing. Just order the sushi.

Went there after reading the good reviews and we were disappointed. Besides Chawanmushi, the restaurant is also famous for its braised pork. The Chawanmushi was so soft that it melted in the mouth. The entrance is at level 1, and all diners are required to take off their footwear before proceeding upstairs. There are two areas - one in traditional... More

Nice place with good food. We like the sashimi and steam egg a lot. For their "pink rice"....only so so!

Was fearing it would be crazy crowded. The usher at the entrance was friendly / courteous and assured me they have some food without meat as well ( I eat fish). Ordered a simple fare with tempura and rice and turned out delicious. Simple, fresh and full of flavor. They didn't go strong on a soy sauce based soup for... More

They don't have English menu but it is easy to manage with the pictures (they also have shelves with plastic version of the dishes at the entry, but with the prices in Kanji - it is easier to look in the Japanese menu as the price there are in arabic numbers). We took the bowl of sashimi on rice, and... More

We loved this place. The portion was very generous and our total bill was less than 5000 yen. If we had that much back home the bill would have been surely more than double. The quality of ingredients were so fresh and good. We saw lots of locals coming to dine which we appreciated. The restaurant had a great zen... More
