Now, I am not a huge fan of soba. I mean, it is better than udon. But, it is no tonkotsu ramen. That being said, the soba at Uzuraya is absolutely delicious. When we arrived in the morning at 10:30 to go check out Togakushi Shrine, there were no folks anywhere. However, when we got back at 12:50, there was... More

Delicious food. Enjoyed the soba but really loved the Yakiniku Teishoku. Not pretentious at all and it's all about the food. Reasonably priced too.

We were visiting the Togakushi-Chusha shrine (the middle shrine) and were looking for a place for lunch. We were fortunate that Uzuraya was just across the road from the shrine and it was open! We ordered two bowls of soba since this was their speciality. From the moment we entered the restaurant, there was great service. They first asked us... More

We're in Togakushi for a romantic getaway and find Uzuraya opened for business despite it being a Wednesday, so since it was so highly rated, we thought we should give it a try. The soba was spectacular and the staff were amazing! Knowing we were not Japanese, they helped us by giving us hints on how to eat soba the... More

We visited this restaurant after making a trip to chusha shrine. The soba was very good, and had details of how to eat it in the menu (which added to the experience). We also tried buckwheat dumplings that came with 3 different dipping/sauce options, which turned out to be surprisingly great. The staff was very attentive, they instructed us how... More

We had Soba at uzuraya just before year end. In Japan, people eat Soba, wishing for a good year coming soon. Soba is a noodle which is long but thin. Ancient Japanese people used to wish their lives to be long, although could be thin as Soba. (Now, people might be wishing to be like "Udon", which is long AND... More

This is the most famous restaurant for Soba noodles in Togakushi. The tempura is spectacular. Don't forget to order apple juice for everyone!

This is truly the most delicious soba restaurant in all of Japan, located right next to the Chusha on Togakushi. Most days people are lined up outside waiting! I wrote my name on the wait list in katakana, and the guy helping to seat everyone instantly took to us. We got a great table and delicious bowls of soba- I... More

We have been travelling through the mountains for the past week and have eaten a lot of soba. This is hands down the best. Having been here a number of years ago we had fond memories yet the food still surpassed our expectations. Recommend the Soba Gaki which is a big soba dumpling and also the Miyami Oroshi (although a... More
