The gyoza is so nice! So many options and choices. Even though the shop is small, but the worker is fast and can speak english. They even have hanger for coat in this small shop. The minus is the waiting line is long, so we...More

I think I don't have to add much to the comments already made. My friend and I got sat at the bar and that was probably the best seats in the house. We had to wait about 30 mins, but have to admit that once...More

Absolutely the best gyoza that i have tasted in Kyoto. Walked past in the evening, saw a q and took a closer look. Saw pictures of gyoza with English menu and decided to join the q and try it out. We only tried the pork...More

Found this place by googling "best gyoza in Kyoto" and we didn't regret. The set menu offers great value but we ordered some more which were better - e.g. ginger gyoza. Dessert with icecream is a must!

I had 16 gyoza for the equivalent of AUD $7... amazing value and the taste was incredible. Also, the chocolate gyoza with ice cream is a MUST! friendly service and will definitely be back

Chaochao's gyoza is delicous with wide variety of choices. The restaurant is quite small and requires a long wait outside. Staffs were cheerful and helpful, but yet Chaochao is not worth for a long wait (We've waited for almost 2 hours). There're many choices of...More

Found the shop online, very far came and found the door is closed, that read 5:00 above that began to operate outside waiting for a long time, suddenly found a lady pushed directly into the door, looked Do not confirm a long time...More

We love gyoza so we HAD to go here when we were in Kyoto. We lined up early and there were already people waiting 15 minutes before it even opened. All of the options were delicious and the turn around was quick. I would really...More

Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's
most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow
street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's
busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls,
Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life,
making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to
come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and
bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly

Sorry for the delay in answering, but yes, you could happily dine there alone & you wouldn't be lonely as you'd prob end up part of something else going on there, it's got a lovely communal atmosphere!
