This place was absolutely amazing. A really cozy but authentic environment, chefs cook the gyozas right in front of you, all staff were cheery, chatty, friendly and extremely welcoming. Food was well priced, great quality and delicious with so many different and unique food options. Definitely would recommend!

Local run by young people very friendly and quick to serve you. The best experience is sitting at the counter where they take orders and cook. The interaction with the customer is real and you can have a word with them (if you want) and make yourself comfortable. The atmosphere is very informal, almost pub-like and the gyoza are sublime and at a really good price. Highly recommended! 💖

Ok, so I have been to Japan 3 of the last 5 years and I fly back tomorrow!!! This is one of the spots I dream about, only been twice. Before this I always dreamed about a spot in Osaka that was great, but when I tried these, I realized there are LEVELS and the place I loved was an A- this is an A+ (5 isnt high enough for my taste buds)
Was recommended to go here by a friend of a friend, we got there, had the 1hr 20 min wait. And we had to break a group of 5 into tables of 3 and 2, but eventually sat together. I will never complaim about a wait if its worth it and DAMN this is the spot.
I think there was a set meal I might have #s of Gyoza wrong, but I got their 16 piece house gyoza, and you get a specialiy gyoza (got shrimp, I think 3), chose the cucumbers which was one of the better I have had (spending a few month in Japan) and a Highball All of that for 1700, basically $12 USD.
It was so amazing, I had to order another set of 16 because I didnt know when I was going back and would need to wait 1hr 20 mins
So I came back through 6 months later and headed straight there for my 1st meal. Only a 10 min wait as I went right when they opened. Amazing as it was the 1st time, got the black pork which was great for the speciality, the rest the same.
I am staying in Osaka and not sure I am going to afford Sakura season in Kyoto, but I will be taking a train to get these gyozas from Osaka 100% sure

I went with a friend who had been there before and insisted on stopping there, and I'm more than happy I heeded his advice. They serve about a twentysome of different flavour variations of gyoza (and a few other things). We tasted a solid dozen of different ones and enjoyed all of them - some of them were so good we ordered extras. I recommend ordering your personal customized choice by the card, as it allows to cater to your individual preferences and won't really make much of a difference in terms of price. Furthermore, head there soon after 7pm to avoid long waiting queues.

The gyoza are simply amazing! The location is very casual style, almost closed to a “steet food” kiosk. Get prepared to queue, but the wait will be rewarded with great food! Chao chao gyoza cannot be missed! Also the boiled dumpling with pork and ginger are lovely. The personnel is so nice, very welcoming and English-friendly, that is a bonus :) overall costs, beer included, around 1500/2000 yen.

Gyoza very good and varied. I wouldn't say it's cheap if you want to eat your fill, around 16 euros per person. Hygiene... on the other hand, great atmosphere. But be prepared to queue even if you get there around 6 p.m.

We ate here six years ago because we had read of the best gyozas award being given here. The restaurant was very small with counter seating and a few tables. The manager was very personable and made sure everyone waiting outside was promptly seated when there was space available. Whenever anyone left, he wholeheartedly thanked for coming in.
I wanted to once again enjoy the gyozas like I had six years ago, but ours were a bit burnt on the bottom and not as flavorful as other gyozas we tried elsewhere.
The food was very reasonable but if you are expecting award winning gyozas, they won’t be here.

This was THE BEST gyoza we had during our trip in Japan (we spent 4 weeks travelling all over Japan so that says a lot). We ordered pretty much everything off the menu and loved it all. We loved it that much we went back for a second meal the following night and when we got there saw 3 other couples that had done the same thing. It was incredible and the staff were so welcoming and lovely with a genuine interest in our travels and where we had come from. 100% recommend and guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

This place is small, so be prepared to wait for the line! But I thought this was worth it. Lovely gyozas which they're known for. They won the prize for the best gyoza and I think they deserve it. The staff are super nice, and greeted us with a smile. The gyoza itself is small, but the taste factor is savory and delicious.

This restaurant is completely overrated.
People who wrote down their reviews are mostly foreigners who don’t really know what real gyozas taste like.
You can understand that because when you are waiting in line or you take a seat,80/90% of the people are foreigners.
Is just like the common restaurant near the center of your city which is made for tourists.

At the suggestion of a friend we went to this restaurant specialized in gyoza. The choice is wide and, sitting at the counter, you can watch the cooking. Do not miss the chao chao (their number 1). Reservation is recommended for the few places available.

Very popular gyoza place, there was a queue every time we passed.
We were lucky as there was only a short wait and while the menu was smaller than we were visited 5 years ago the gyozas were still great. Also great value too.

Interesting flavors of gyoza, both boiled and pan-fried. The skin is very thin, almost shu-mai like, with pretty small servings. The side dish fried chicken (karage) was good, but the beef noodles was a mish mash of strange flavors and crunchy noodles that missed the mark for me. If you are used to eating Asian style dumplings, I wouldn’t go out of my way to try this because there are so many other options around.

From the outside it did not look very different from many others, indeed it looked particularly messy, but entering we were greeted by open smiles, the Owner Chef (I think) asks everyone the country of origin, with us Italians he also says a few words. Various and delicious dumplings, excellent sweet course! A nice and pleasant atmosphere, made up of many smiles despite the effort of a decidedly tight job for the continuous arrival of new customers!

Rated best Gyozas in Japan and I can see why. So good we went back for lunch the next day. We had the set menu and was a great way to try lots of gyoza flavors. Their signature gyoza was my favorite. I’ll be dreaming about these when I get home from holidays. Friendly staff who spoke English.

Pontocho
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls, Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life, making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Verandas are always filled with people young and old crowding tables, biting into hot yakitori or sipping cold beers. It is a culinary heart of Kyoto as much as one of its most laid-back, clamorous, and entertaining evening hotspots. Pontocho has more of an amiable vibrancy to it than an elegant one, attracting newcomers, local veterans, and everyone in between, in casual attire like sneakers and jeans.
