Amazing meal and one of (if not THE) best of 18 days in Japan! No idea what was in the Tiger Highball special but it was bloody delicious with a great ginger zingy kick. Gyoza were large but melt in your mouth (& all others after this meal paled in comparison) with soft wraps. Greens in garlic were generous and oozing in garlicky juices. Was great to sit at the bar & watch the lady making the dumplings fresh to order & chefs preparing food. We arrived around 6.30pm and had to wait around 15 mins so can imagine it gets busy later in the evening. Would highly recommend and would regularly visit if it weren’t so far from home (i rarely give reviews and this is over a week later so speaks volumes for the quality). VERY reasonably priced too!

We arrived in Kyoto late in the afternoon, and I found this fantastic gyoza restaurant within a 10-minute walk from our hotel. While the inside only seats about 15 people, it didn't matter since I planned to order takeout. They thoughtfully provide menus with English translations, making it easy to understand the dish descriptions and place an order.
Even at around 5 PM, the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. The service was incredibly prompt, and after taking my order, the staff kindly invited me to have a seat and watch the action unfold in the open kitchen. I gained a deep appreciation for the skilled cooks meticulously preparing each handmade gyoza dumpling.
The food was absolutely delicious – I could happily eat these gyoza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! The flavors were authentically delightful, and the dumplings had the perfect texture.
Highly recommended for a taste of classic Japanese cuisine prepared with care right before your eyes!
If you find yourself in Kyoto, do yourself a favor and seek out this unassuming little gem. The fresh, handmade gyoza alone are worth the trip!

This restaurant has a very tasty menu. Besides the options of delicious Gyoza, you can also eat other tasty dishes here. Since you order all kinds of portions, sharing the food with your tablemates is a good idea. Very good. The restaurant itself seems small at first glance, but has three floors. You order via a QR code that you scan. Recommended this restaurant

We arrived from the bullet train without any dinner reservations. Stumbled upon this place and there seats available at the counter. We ordered shrimp gyoza, greens dumplings, and chicken soup. It was all well prepared, simple, with fresh ingredients. Not very salty and no MSG. And we got to watch them work the wok!

This is a Japanese/Chinese restaurant. We were looking for a restaurant on a Sunday evening and saw a line outside this restaurant. We waited for 45 minutes and got a table on the 3rd floor and it turns out, every table smokes or vapes except ours. If you do not smoke, make sure you ask for a table at the counter on the first floor. Thankfully, the food did not take long to arrive and the gyoza was tasty. Dandan noodles was spicy but authentic.

Best meal so far in Japan! Absolute fantastic Gyoza. Must try the black beef dumplings and chicken w coriander dressing. Banana shaped dumplings the biggest I’ve ever seen.

Waited for 20 minutes, then was given a table on the third floor. We got up, was about to sit down when we realised everyone was smoking! We got up and asked if it was ok if we waited for a table in the non smoking part, it was told no non smoking. Left. People were smoking while they were in the middle of their dinner. Can’t say if good was good. Did that have any, but the staff were friendly. Please make the top the smoking room and leave the rest non smoking. Horrible to sit down in a fog of cigarette smoke to eat dinner

Amazing food and very friendly staff. We had two different style gyoza and a main dish each. Big, tasty portions and very fresh (you can watch the cooks).

Lovely evening meal, sat in front of the chefs at the counter and loved seeing them make all the lovely food. Had traditional dumplings and Dan Dan mince with rice and it was one of my favourite meals here in Japan!

Found this place by accident, the best Gyoza we have ever had. Price is higher than average but well worth it

Was in the area around 7:00 pm and TripAdvisor listed this place as nearby. There was one couple waiting and another couple behind me. The host asked if I had a reservation and then said “no reservation” and shooed me away. So rude! The first rude person I encountered on my trip to Japan.

Don’t be turned away from the Queue waiting outside- it moves fast!
You will be rewarded ten times over once you take your first bite!
The staff is super friendly ( though we sat on the first floor bar where we watched the cook make everything, but he had a scowl on all night).
They have an English menu, too.
We also ordered the black colored gyoza, which were great?
We would definitely return to try out all the gyoza dishes! 😋

We stumbled across this place on our first trip to Kyoto a number of years ago. We make a point of dining there when we visit.
It is a chain but feels more like a suburban restaurant. Was great to see that some of the staff are still there years later.
The menu is extensive (English menus available) but you can’t go past the Gyoza. Delicious! Today we tried two kinds + had fried rice. Thankfully we didn’t order any more food - it was more than enough. Including two drinks each the cost was around 5000 yen.
Good service. Great food. Don’t miss it!

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
