Read it on a blog and decided to visit after Ginakuji on the way to Nazenji. Limited space, might have to wait but we were lucky. The view was amazing and the service great. We got the ice matcha, matcha lattes and the Yojiya set. Beware don't order too much or you might be overloaded with matcha like us! Overall... More

Stopped at one the Yojiya cafes for a quick lunch during our visit to Kyoto. Good food served quickly.

We enjoyed a green tea pick me up while on the temple circuit. Fast, friendly service with a great garden and clean toilets. It was worth the stop.

Yojiya is a cafe/restaurant chain that has a different menu at each location. This particular location only serves drinks and desserts. It is a perfect stop along the philosopher's path, as it is pretty close to the halfway point. You are seated on a tatami mat facing a beautiful garden. The coffee and desserts were delicious, and this place provided... More

This is a perfect stop along your walk on the Philosopher's Path but use your google maps or you will miss it. It serves tea and coffee and desserts as you sit on tatami mats facing the most beautiful garden. This experience makes you reflect that the Japanese way of beauty, nature, in a delicate quiet way is the way... More

A place easily overlooked. At first you probably walk right by this place but as soon as you enter you can enjoy a nice cold green tea cappucino overlooking the beautiful garden. A true must see!

This is only a cafe/dessert place, no main courses. Even though the food and drinks are more on the average side, the presentation and atmosphere bump it up to the very good category. It's traditional in the sense that you required to remove your shoes, so make sure you're wearing good socks...but I suppose the good socks thing goes for... More

We found this place along Philosopher's walk and fortunately stopped for an iced matcha. We also enjoyed gateaux chocolate, a somewhat rare find in this corner of the world. Sit on 2nd floor and enjoy the garden.

They offer cakes and drinks mixing traditional and modern elements. Sitting on the floor in the tatami room, you can enjoy the food and the wonderful view of traditional Japanese garden. Be reminded that don't wear too fitting clothes because there is no chair for you. You have to sit directly on the floor.

This is a lovely cafe that has all things green tea as well as sweets (don't miss the red bean paste covered ice cream dishes!). It is the typical Japanese design with tatami mat floors and cushions to sit on. Don't forget to take off your shoes! And it has the best view ever. Our trip to Japan would not... More
