While this Japanese chain restaurant is known for its ramen, I opted to try their fried rice along with a serving of gyoza - both of which I found done well and delicious. My family who ordered ramen choices each also found their selections to be satisfying and good value for money. The only downside to this shop is that... More

I know what you're thinking. "I've had Ramen before, how good can this be?" well I'm no expert but this is the best Ramen I've had in my time in Japan. Where's others are in a clear broth, here it's more of a thicker, meatier soup. Half way to stew in thickness. Oh and do try the slightly spicy vegetables... More

Small and cozy place, we ordered 2 diferente ramen that were very tasteful. For a cheap and quick stop, we definitely recomend.

We ordered 3 medium size bowls of different varieties for 4 of us to share, yet the portion is far too much for us to share. That's rare for me teenagers who are constantly needing more! My son was especially pleased with his pork slices, at 934 Yen for medium bowl, there was 2 layers of pork slices. Top layer... More

This the best ramen i ever have in Japan. I like their soup most, but dislike the pork serve (too many fat). There r hundred of branch all over Japan, is easy to look for them & try this ramen.

Staying in Gion

Neighbourhood Profile
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
