Went to this place for dinner one night 'cause I miss Thai food back home, and I wasn't disappointed. Had the Pad See Ew (stir fried noodles) and Thai Tea which was really good. The staff were almost all Thai so it was pretty authentic! Great food, good service, but okay prices.

We went to Baan Thai last night and had their Green Chicken Curry and Basil Chilli Pork. They were both delicious we were very pleased to get some chilli back in our lives. The drinks were lovely and cold after a hot day seeing the city. The owners were both very gracious and we may go back in the next... More

The food is really good, very tasty. The atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant are quite below average though. Also our table was close to collapsing. With some simple improvements they could make this place much more enjoyable.

Went with my parents who speak Thai. It was great for them to talk to owners and they were very welcoming. Food was fantastic the Tom Khai was what I got and there was none left. Recommended!

The papaya salad and the spring rolls were good. Everything else we ordered was average to below average. Moreover, the selection of dishes was mostly sea food, only a couple of dishes of poultry, pork and beef.

Spicy Thai food, a good change from noodles and sushi. Not the best ever, but the currys were decent and one serving would have been enough to feed us both (if we had ordered two rice one curry).

The food was decent, but not great and fairly expensive. The stir fry meals don't come with rice, and a side of plain rice costs 500¥.

We had pad Thai and sticky rice and it was just as nice as what we're used to in Thailand! We are both vegetarian and the lady had no trouble understanding this! Very yummy and a raesonable price too :)

While staying in a hotel on Gojo Dori ,just North of Kyoto Station, we found this great little Thai restaurant a short walk away. Although there were no other customers (it was 5:30 pm) we decided to give it a try. The owners do not seem to speak much English, but we were able to order our meal successfully. The... More

About one km from Tokyu Hotel so we 7 walked it both ways. Had free WiFi and were also greeted with warmth. Since d me of us are pure vegetarians so we had great difficulty explaining.Fortunately a young Argentinean boy came to our rescue as he spoke Thai. Cute chap took over and discussed our order and placed it for... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
