I have been looking for this place online since our visit. So much so because I wanted to leave a review. I'm of italian background, and my grandmother used to make the perfect pasta, THIS PLACE RIVALS THAT! it's so delicious with little ingredients, that marriage together perfectly. Belissimo!

Dropped off here for a drink after a long day of sightseeing. We had just been to the top of the Station Building, and this place seemed to offer our best chance of a drink and a sit down. It is a restaurant but they didn't seem to mind us just having drinks. It was mid-afternoon. Some interesting and unusual... More

Seemed promising as it was pretty busy inside, but it was clear that some tables were more heavily waited upon than others. Dishes came more than 15 minutes apart from each other and it was challenging to flag down a waitress for water. Head waiter was dismissive when we checked on our second dish. Food was mediocre and (expectedly) overpriced.

This is an "Italian" restaurant and we ate here 2 nights. We had 4 cheese pizza each time, thin crust ant 4 separate sections of cheese. Very nice, staff and atmosphere. If want other than Japanese it's good choice. Top of Isetan department store.

We went in here last night for dinner but In summary, we could not eat at this place. They declined to adjust anything on their menu to be vegetarian. Their dressing had anchovies and they could not even serve a salad with a simple oil and vinegar dressing. This is not a place you want to visit esp if you... More

I took a chance on this place and was very happy. I adore pasta with white clam sauce and theirs is excellent. Truly al dente and flavorful (many many clams). I had the set meal with an excellent caesar salad and praline gelato for dessert. Great Italian red wine by the glass. What a wonderful surprise this was! All for... More

I have enjoyed a pizza at this restaurant on several occasions. The service is very impersonal and I had the impression that their formula does not always arrange the client, Wine is either sold by glass or in a half litre carafe, no 25cl carafe which would be ideal for 1-2 people. Pizzas available from 17.00, not before. In Europe we... More

I found this place as we were exploring the Kyoto train station. It was pretty busy so we figured we would give it a try. Everything on their menu looked pretty tasty. I got pasta and it was very good, the portions weren't to big or small and tasted great. The item I would recommend the most is a drink... More

After 2 weeks touring Japan we were looking for any restaurant serving familiar food and wine that didn't require a 2nd mortgage. Having explored the fabulous Kyoto Station from bottom to top, we came on Ante Cafe by chance. The pasta was tasty & reasonably priced and wine started at 1500 yen (under £10 - bargain!!). As a group of... More

Having eaten so much ramen, tempura and sushi, we decided to recharge with some western-style food. I ordered a baked potato, Caesar's salad and bread (no free bread service here!). The salad was ok, but the baked potato was delicious! I had never had such fluffy, perfectly cooked baked potato as I did here. The bread (like a breadstick) was... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
