This is easily one of my favorite place in Kyoto with the best Matcha dish/dessert I ever have in my life. It is located inside Kyoto Station so location is perfect. It always have a line outside of the store, but the wait time is so worth it. And I never disappointment with any items on the menu. But I... More

If you enjoy matcha, then this is the perfect place for you. Most of their desserts here incorporate matcha in some way, and they are sooo yummy! I find that the desserts here aren't overly sweet, probably less sweet than Tsujiri I think. I tried the matcha jelly with mochi, and it was both sweet and refreshing. The matcha ice... More

All sorts of green tea dessert that you can think of. We went there based on the positive tripadvisor review. The desserts tasted good, just not what we were expecting based on the reviews. It was on the pricier side as well. Seems to be popular among the locals.

Decided to join the very long queue (Japan's Labour Day weekend) for the restaurant given the rave reviews. Some people gave up waiting which helped shorten the queue. Got in after waiting about one hour. Glad the restaurant thoughtfully put chairs outside for us to sit while waiting. Sorely needed after walking almost the entire day. Realised that most people... I loved green tea jelly here. I want to taste it every week. We also liked angmitchu here. I've tasted angmitchu in other place but I felt this place angmitchu tastes better.

we stopped off her just before heading back to Tokyo. I had the green tea udon set. it may sound strange but the green tea is light in the udon and not over powering. tasty, yummy and hearty but with a little twist. stop by to try this yummy place that isn't expensive.

The location actually is NOT in the Istant department store but if you ask the service counter, they will show you a very clear direction in a map. That means too many people have asked them about it. We ordered a lot and everything is nice. Don't be scared when you see the long queue out of the restaurant, it... More

We ordered the Houjicha and Green Tea Parfaits. A big glass stuffed with soft cream, mochi cake, jelly, read beans etc. The soft cream is so silky, the cake is soft, jelly is smooth and the read bean is sweet. Perfect combination..... I can eat 2 parfaits easily. The cold soba is fantastic too. The texture is just right and... More

Located on the 2nd floor of kyoto station building in Suvaco mall opposite JR west exit I didn't have a meal at the restaurant upstairs but I bought takeaway soft cream on the 1st floor parlor. 340 yen only! With red bean jam (azuki) and shiratama. This is the best matcha soft cream I've tried to date. Highly recommend for... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
