We just had to go to this branch! We had coffee (and I had cake) and admired the view from the bridge. It's too bad they didn't have the outdoor terrace set up. I think this is only done during spring or summer. I think it's too cold to be sipping coffee outside.

It would be great if I visit this place during a clear summer weather. Unfortunately, I visited this shop in a rainy autumn weather. On top of it, I went there at night, so there's pretty much nothing to see, because it's so dark outside and you can't see anything if you're not in balcony.

Starbucks Sanjo Ohashi is located just beside Sanjo Bridge, the terminal of Tokaido route. It is nice to take a view of river, while you are drinking a cup of coffee.

The place is "ok" because although the view from the window is pretty neat, the chairs are not. Their a bit uncomfortable both in size and height, and the same goes for the table. But this is only when sitting next to the window (and the far wall) - the rest of the seats are great, tables too! Comfy, large... More

This is a really great Starbucks, with a balcony seating area overlooking the river. It gets really busy with queues to get in, but we were lucky and it was well worth it. A really nice venue! A good range of sandwiches and cakes too if you're looking for a break from noodles…

Not to be missed by Starbucks Coffee lovers, is this new store concept beside the river. They added an elevated loft for customers to get a better view and experience the beauty and atmosphere of the area. Note the unique rules of this place (posted photo of rules) like no studying, using computers, etc.

It's a Starbucks so nothing special there. The location is fabulous. The views of the river lovely. Makes that latte better. Worth checking out. Next to an old fashioned biscuit shop.

If you can get a seat on the external decking which offers great views of the river, excellent on a sunny day. Had a really good cup of latte coffee which compared well with any Starbucks I have visited all over the world.

This particular branch has a great view of the Kamogawa River. Have a snack here to relax a little bit. Make sure to order specials/seasonal beverages (they have a new beverage almost every month). If you are not into the view of the river, the Starbucks in Sanjo-kawaramachi is better (in terms of service).

Very crowded and a separate line to get out on the deck overlooking the river. Still, worth it to go. Its your standard starbucks with standard overpriced coffee and eats.

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
