We wouldn't have known about Giro Giro were it not for some friends who live in Kyoto. But boy, what a treat it was to eat there! The interior is simple, sitting at a counter top around the open kitchen as dishes are prepared and...More

The quality of food was ok. For me, being a foodie, that was nothing special. I liked the presentation though. All dishes were decorated in a very creative way. 2 thing I disliked: there were lots of tourists (80% of the visitors) this destructs you...More

We were excited to visit Giro Giro after reading reviews on Trip advisor. The food was presented beautifully, however it was extremely bland and lacking in flavour. Most of the dishes were very underwhelming. We only enjoyed 2 of the 8 dishes. For the same...More

Wonderfully innovative modern Kaiseki style 8 course meal for the price of one entree in other restaurants. Sitting at the counter and watching the chefs prepare each dish was an experience. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing dinner here. The food was outstanding--even more interesting than a three-star restaurant we had visited. Definitely make reservations.

We were so excited to get reservations here. Our family was stuffed upstairs, luke warm waters not filled often, and 6 out of 8 courses were fish related. One was a cold clam soup which made me want to heave. I can understand a few...More

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub,
Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining,
and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with
tourists and local business travelers, making it a
