This is a nice place for expats. Food is good. I liked the burger a lot. There is a plenty of beer choices. The place can get loud or rowdy, but hey it is an Irish pub. Worth visiting. We did a few times.

... and the pub grub isn't bad! One of the three best spots to catch local bands play. Three floors offering different versions of bar mayhem: first floor... sports on TV, restaurant and bar service; second floor... high top tables and live music; third floor......pool with a balcony that looks down on the music. Second and third floors get pretty smoky and the drinks aren't cheap, but highly recommended for a good time.More
Hooley's looks the part and feels authentic, even flaunting archives about The Easter rising. This is no Republican' s dream, though. The staff couldn't give a **** and neither could the landlord, beyond what it takes to market your country's identity as a fridge magnet...made in China.More
Dear Nicola, We appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience at Hooley’s. However, it is absent of any substantive comments that we would hope to address as owners. Staff not giving a “****” surely isn’t the case, as we have been a...More
Maybe it was the lack of baked beans for 18 months whilst living in China but I thoroughly enjoyed the Breakfast. Great to see rugby on the screens, and see a variety of multi national customers. Staff were polite, wish I could have stayed longer....Will be back on the 10th July for another breakfast...only suggestion...sausages...didnt seem friedMore
been there a few times, good atmosphere with a balance of locals and nonlocals. Football & Rugby games on the tube are a plus! Guinness on tab, Food is fine Live music on the second floor and pool table on the third
Manager told me about the pool competition so signed up mid week. What I didn’t realize on four at visit is that that the place las three floors. Didn’t play so well meself but had a great time on the third floor. 16 lads entered....Irish manager Paul very friendly. Live band kicked off at 10pm - by that time I was out of the comp and had a great time watching the live music - it was packed by 1030. Oh yeah regarding food and drink ..... thin crust pizzas were brilliant - lots of beers on tap. Will definitely be back!More
the staff is friendly, prices are great and the food is out of this world and dont forget if you are a fan of live music this is the place to be, live music every day!!!
Reading the last few reviews is quite baffling Visited GZ for the first time to see some old mates and we came here for dinner most nights Welcoming staff, friendly manager and the Chicken Tikka masala was excellent! Unfortunately no live music but coming back...soon apparently Definitely worth a visit!More
This is NOT an Irish pub, and shame on the owners for even suggesting it as such, a complete farce! Very rude staff and bland food is on offer if you venture in. First and last time there.More
Dear ‘Buddy Boy’, The owners of Hooley’s are Irish. The General Manager is Irish and is on site 6 days a week. The food menu includes Irish favourites such as Guinness Beef pie made from scratch in our kitchen. The framed images on the wall...More
This is a complete joke of a place, not one single thing about the place is Irish! Overpriced food thats average to say the least, expensive pints which are pure drill! And zombie staff!More

I arrived in Guangzhou on business and Hooley's was recommended to me by a friend. On entry we were greeted by the manager (Paul) who took care of our table all night. We only went in for dinner but we decided to stay later as...the warm and friendly expat atmosphere was a comfortable one in which to knock back a few reasonably priced drinks. The food came out promptly, was of a high standard and was complimented by a decent drinks menu that catered for the needs of my entire table of clients. Overall, a great experience and one I would recommend to others. Next time I'm in town I'll make sure to head upstairs for the live music!More
Staff was not friendly and slow. We had to wait like 10 minutes before they approached us. Music was too loud. Cousin was ok.
Good Fish and Chips decent beer. Quite a few foreigners at the pub the night i went so i would assume thats a fairly standard crowd. Close to the W if your staying there. Be prepared for some funky seating requirements. You will be told...where to sit and it may be at a communal table next to a big drunk guy that has no sense of anyones space but his. He will lean into your arm when your trying to eat, drink or otherwise move about. All that until of course you ask to move where you will be moved at least two times before sitting at a spot they told you was unavailable when you first arrived.More
Nothing very Irish about it, in fact I was certainly the only Irish person there. I initially went for the live music upstairs last weekend but seemingly upstairs has been closed and will stay closed for a long time. Sport was on the TV so...I had a few drinks whilst watching the football until a big rat ran across the floor. The place is tiny so everyone saw it but it was agreed to leave it alone as it’s going to be the year if the rat!More
Cool Irish pub in downtown Guangzhou. Went in solo for dinner and a change of pace. Solid burger and wings! Friendly service
