As a group of 3 English Tourists we were very lucky to find this restaurant. A woman on the subway recommended it to us after we asked for a good place to get Greek food in Astoria. It was an incredible authentic experience, the majority of the customers were Greek. The food was impeccable and the service faultless. They gave... More

Never had a bad meal here. Been in business for years. The fact that most of the clientele is Greek speaks volumes. The παπουτσάκια (eggplant) is the best.

Has become our go to place for Greek food in Astoria...tasty, authentic flavors...always enjoy the grilled octopus. Hubby had his favorite pork souvlaki dish and I opted for fried baby smelts (atherina). Also enjoyed the fresh warmed galaktobouriko (cream custard with phyllo dough and honey syrup traditional dessert).

What a treat Stamatis in Astoria! we were rather discouraged when we saw the long queue standing inside the place against the wall. Being warned about the 15 min wait we put our heart at peace and waited just that time having the opportunity to see the gorgeous plates filled with spanakopita, grilled octopi, all kind of grilled fish, great... You just can't beat Astoria for authentic Greek food. We were in Santorini last September and loved the Santorini murals on Stamatis' walls. We had grilled octopus, bronzini and pork shiskabobs....all delicious and very reasonably priced. As is usually customary in some Greek restaurants, had a free, delicious apple custard dessert. Finding parking on a weekend night may be a... More

Food was decent but not great. The service was good. The ambiance was only fair. It is a big place which is probably a good choice for large groups in the back of the restaurant. There are better choices in Astoria.

I would recommend this restaurant to get the most authentic Greek Cuisine in Astoria. The food is always good and service is too.

Thank Roger B
