Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

At first, I bought a food ticket and paid by cash or Paypay, 170 yen for each ticket or 2000 yen for 12 tickets. Miso soup is scallop or seaweed. I bought scallops, partridges, large octopus, oversized red shrimp, pickled nebuta, salmon roe and others from a few stores. They sit down and advertise tea or water from vending machines, wasabi and soy sauce on social media before eating.

I went there for breakfast.
It consisted of 12 tickets costing 2,000 yen.
You buy the tickets with cash at the reception and start after receiving your rice.
You decide after going around once.
2 salmon roe, otoro, chutoro, scallops, spear squid, flounder engawa, 1 miso soup, and I think it was nebutazuke?
If you get miso soup at the end, you won't spill anything.

The market is not very big. As said, you buy set of coupons & exchange individual coupons ( value ) for the seafood, etc, at different vendors stalls. They provide tables at different sections of the market for you to eat your purchases. Frankly the quality, choices & taste generally are not that great, for the high prices paid. More of a gimmick really.

You buy a set of tickets and walk around the market exchanging them for the fresh seafood you want. For a person like me who wants to sample a bit of everything, this is perfect! The seafood was all amazingly fresh too.

it was a sashimi market where you purchase tickets in advance and walk around and choose your own stuffs. the food quality and freshness was good but the rice was just normal, not sushi vinegar's rice. so it basically ruined everything else

We went there for a late lunch after the Nebuta Festival parade. The place is the Japanese parallel of the cooked food centres in Singapore and is actually a raw seafood market cum eating areas where you can buy and eat your food on site. You buy coupons of 650 Yen or 1300 Yen from the counter at the entrance of the Centre and use them to pay for food you choose(such as tuna, prawns, mackerel, bream, sea urchin, fish roe etc) from the various seafood stalls in the Centre. Most people will buy a bowl of rice and add assortments of live seafood to it. I had 2 raw prawns and a small dish of cooked crab legs for 800 Yen. They were fresh and very delicious. There were tables and benches for sitting down and drinking water was free.

This was a unique and tasty breakfast! The tickets were reasonably priced and went a surprisingly long way - it was a lot of fun to shop around for our toppings of choice. My bowl was overflowing and I couldn’t finish it all!

Making our own sushi bowl for breakfast was certainly a fun experience when in Aomori. The process is well explained by the various signs around the centre and the staff are very helpful as well.
Once you buy your tickets, you then exchange them for a bowl of rice and then the toppings of your choice. Items cost one, two or three tickets, though there was a good selection at the lower end, though obviously quality improves the more tickets an item costs.
We were satisfied with our ¥650 spend. It was fun to try and the fish was fresh and tasty.

I went to eat lunch there, the system is quite easy you have to queue and buy some tickets and then you can exchange the tickets in the fish shops of the market and make your own kaisendon (rice bowl with fresh seafood). Then you can eat your own creation in a seat. It's a fun way to make your own rice bowl with seafood. Expect long queues if you come during Nebuta festival, so I recommend you come early.

WONDERFUL breakfast with HUGE FRESH seafood donburi at only 1,300 yen!!! Loved this experience, do not miss it! A short 10 min walk from Aomori JR Station, easy to find by google maps as Aomori Nokkedon, and you go into a small indoor fish market, bustling with fresh seafood.
You need to buy a set of 10 coupons for 1,300 yens and get for this a bowl of hot sticky rice and buy small portions of seafood of your choice, going through the stalls.. we ate salmon roe, fatty tuna, prawns, roasted salmon, squid, AMAZING AND YUMMY!!!! GIVE IT A TRY!!

The perfect place for sashimi lovers! You must first buy the coupons at the cashier and then get the bowl of rice, after that you can go nuts with whatever "toppings" you want. All of the seafood available is so fresh. You can choose to buy from any vendor with the blue flag. Highly recommended for a different food experience in Japan :)

This place came out with an innovative way to get people to the Furukawa Fish Market. This is a build it yourself Kaisendon (seafood rice bowl). You can buy a half sheet of scripts for 650 yen or a full sheet for 1300 yen which is redeemable for various seafood portions of your choice. I would recommend you get the full sheet as you do not have to use the entire sheet on your first visit. The "rice stations" are changed daily as that will usually determine the route you will take to visit the different vendors. The vendors do not "undercut" each other. All portions are priced the same throughout the market. However, we did notice that the portion size did differ slightly. No matter which vendor you decide to visit, the seafood is fresh. Hot tea and water are available upon finding your seat. There are also other food vendors serving various side dishes. We visited this establishment for breakfast and lunch, and seating was always available. Wonderful seafood experience for a very reasonable price!

One of the highlights of our trip, the process of buying tickets and trading in for choice of fresh seafood was a lot of fun. Not only was the seafood fresh and tasty it was a really good experience for little cost. Was difficult to find but it was worth the hunt!

The market is actually a row of shops and unless you slide the door open, you wouldn't really noticed there is market inside after all.
However, you can use google maps to guide you easily anyway.
Coupons system is used here, basically you can have 2 people filled up in less than 2000yen.
After checking at all markets (Sapporo, Hakodate, Aomori, Tokyo - along the way from Hokkaido to Tokyo), we found that the seafood in the north is definitely unbeatable comparing to the one in the south. And to compare the price and quality, I would say this is the better place to get Hokkaido-grade seafood, but at Tokyo-grade price.
We do noticed that in Tsukiji market, the seafood are priced much more higher than in Sapporo. Hence, if you have a chance to stop by Aomori, do make a visit to this market to splurge on the freshest seafood you can get!
And I particularly love the clam-based miso soup too!
To dine in here, you will need to purchase the coupons at the counter, either 1300 or 650yen - the amount depends on how many tickets you'll need to get all the dishes you want. You may also want to compare the tickets required at different stalls (some stalls require 2 tickets for a Tamagoyaki and another stall requires only 1 ticket--- sizes varies).
Feel free to roam around the 3 lines of stalls before deciding!
Also, if you are a big eater you might need the "big" rice which costs you 2 tickets. Regular size rice costs 1 ticket but that is adequate for most people as you can always top up with more dishes if you want to.
