"Miso Curry Milk Ramen" has been around since the 1970s. At the time, it was created by middle and high school students who would add, subtract, and multiply various condiments such as ketchup and mayonnaise to ramen. From there, they discovered that "adding curry and milk to miso ramen makes it delicious," and commercialized it, leading to the present day. On top of the noodles, there is a large amount of bean sprouts, char siu, bamboo shoots, wakame seaweed, and butter. The milk makes it a light-flavored curry ramen that is made milder. However, I got tired of it halfway through. At first, I was impressed. The volume is perfect. While I was eating it, something gradually became strange. The noodles are a unique type often seen in miso ramen. There is no consistency in the flavor. It made me wonder why it has become such a representative ramen of Aomori City.

I saw a ramen shop called Aji no Sapporo Onishi in my Aomori guidebook and wanted to try their Miso Curry Milk Ramen, so I stopped by while sightseeing in Aomori city. The shop is located one block south of the Aomori Gyosai Center, where you can eat the Aomori specialty Nokkedon. It's delicious. The Miso Curry Milk Ramen is a mix of miso, curry, and milk flavors, which create an exquisite harmony. I really liked it.

Visited on a weekday at 5:30 pm. I was able to sit immediately at the counter and ordered the miso curry milk ramen for 980 yen. After a 10 minute wait, the bowl arrived. It was a mysterious ramen that I had been curious about for a while, but it seemed to have taken the best of both worlds, as the taste was unclear and the miso curry milk flavor was vague and unremarkable, which didn't suit my taste. I paid with PayPay and left the store.

The curry, butter, miso ramen sucks!!!! Typical Japanese place but their signature dish is just something to die for... it’s just simply a must!!!!

I was looking forward to trying the curry, miso, milk ramen when in Aomori, and they didn’t disappoint! I went in a Friday night and it was surprisingly quiet. I got seated immediately and was eating my ramen in about 5 mins. The dish was huge and filled with lovely noodles and bean sprouts. The soup was delicious, with the curry being the predominant flavour but it was not overpowering. The miso added a nice saltiness. I really enjoyed it! The menu is available in English which is handy, and the price was excellent at ¥830. Definitely give it a go!

After reading the reviews this was definitely on our list of places to try in Aomori and well worth a visit. For 800yen you get a huge bowl of curry, miso, milk and butter noodles with pork and bean sprouts. One of the best and most interesting bowls of ramen I've ever had and I don't expect to find it again anytime soon. A proper gem!

We went there around 12 and waiting for 15 minutes. The interior looks local noodle shop. English menu is provided. The noodle bowl is very big, you don't need to order the second bowl. Try noodle with butter. There was queue all the time we were there, but short and fast moving. The taste is good with local atmosphere.

we wanted some ramen and this is the place in Aomori to have the best ramen in town we tried umeboshi (for free) while we were waiting for the ramen, it's surprising but not for everyone, in my opinion the ramen was excellent, it deserves five points, but there are no more options at this restaurant, unfortunately nevertheless, it's worth the visit!

I am a foodie with focusing on gastronomy in mind and usually will try variety of local specialties when I take a trip abroad. I like miso, curry, milk, butter but had never had them all together in the non-creamed hot noodle broth. As strange as it might sound I was willing to give it a try since the local tourist information recommends this ramen eatery. It is a few blocks from the center of the town but was easy for us to find it. Upon arriving at the restaurant I immediately noticed there is a TripAdvisor - “2014 Certificate of Excellence”- award posted on the wall and there are other awards, newspaper articles and a huge trophy display on a stand. Seating area is bigger than common ramen shops and divided by bar counter seats and 2 large low floor tatami seating for groups and families. I read about this place could be very crowded during peak hours so we went earlier and didn’t wait for long to get two bar seats. A young man and an older lady (assuming they are family members) were working in a narrow cooking area behind the bar counter. The young man was the main cook. Menu items are printed both in Japanese and English and only on one sheet with plastic film to protect it I assumed it is for the foreigners to read. It listed choices of ramen with flavoring broth in miso, salt, soy sauce, curry, milk, and butter or combined flavors. The signature one is highlighted which is the combination of miso, curry, milk and butter all in the broth. We came for its most popular one and decided to order the signature ramen. Not sure what to expect, we only ordered one bowl to share. Luckily we did-it came with a huge bowl of ramen and broth with a bargain deal of 830 yens. The lady owner was very kind and gave us an extra bowl to use. The condiments are available and free of charge, but a note was posted and asked patrons be respectful when take them. Since I had the front seat I watched how my order was done. The young man, who cooked our order and someone else, dropped noodles into a large pot of boiling water and then sauté the vegetables in a wok. He took out cooked noodles which are thicker and chewier than other common ramen and then put into the bowls. He then ladled hot broth and with seasonings to the bowl. He then poured milk straight from a carton to the broth. He added sautéd vegetables, precooked pork slices, soy sauce flavored egg and bamboo strips and wakame seaweed on the noodles and then garnished with green onion, one small pat of butter on top. Voilà, our order was done and it looked just like the picture posted on the wall. I read about the story of this signature ramen-Mr. Onishi, the founder of this restaurant took a ramen challenge- to make something tasted different than what he already had to offer. He combined his four popular ramen seasonings and invented this very flavorful ramen broth. Miso is a commonly used native seasoning, curry is an imported pungent seasoning, and dairy production is a major economy in Hokkaido. So when Aji No Sapporo Onishi found a creative way of combining all these ingredients in the broth it brings up distinct but yet rich balanced flavors in your taste buds. Onishi does just like that for its specialty ramen that no other could imitate. Mr. Onishi was the one that thought outside of the box. Don’t miss this local specialty when visit Aomori. This restaurant accepts cash only.

If you've been looking for a truly memorable bowl of Ramen, you will find it at Aji no Sapporo Onoshi (味の札幌大西). Their signature ramen, the Curry Milk Miso Ramen has a delicious broth that has an amazing and memorable flavor. The blend of curry, milk, butter and miso give the broth a rich flavor, but one that is not overpowering. You will not be disappointed.

don't get it confused, this is not a gourmet ramen spot found in NYC or California. ramen was never meant to be that AT ALL. this is a local joint that does a good cheap ramen correct with an unique touch. the go-to ramen here is the miso curry milk ramen as mentioned by review sites and the media. a creamy but not heavy blend makes is a good balance. do it!
