Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The gyoza makes this place, it's gyoza that you will remember. We got both types and both were amazing (one had an interesting leaf in it whose flavor I remember but not the name). I ended up stuffing myself with those and their excellent kimchi...cucumber, so there wasn't a lot of space left for the tantanmen I ordered. Talking of, I hoped it was going to be a small bowl, given limited stomach real estate, and it turned out to be exactly the opposite. It was a large bowl full of soupy goodness and noodles and corn and nori and what not! One sip in and I knew I was going to have to finish this while it's hot and spicy. I ended up getting thru 75% of it and taking a brisk walk to try soothe my burgeoning food baby. The spot is clearly a favorite of the locals and rightly so. The servers were all so amazing and nice and made our experience wonderful, I'd love to be back here whenever I end up back in the beautiful town of Hakone to give Owakudani-san and Fuji-san a visit.More

The gyoza was excellent great and the price was very reasonable. The China house has a nice cozy atmosphere and the people are very accommodating.

I’ve eaten a lot of gyoza in my lifetime and I have to say this has to be the best gyoza I’ve eaten hands down. Service was great and beer ice cold. Very well priced for a great meal. The beef curry, shrimp and leek...and cabbage gyozas were so good we had to go back again the very next day. If you are in Hakone do yourself a favor. The fillings in these dumplings are top grade. You can taste the care they put into their dumplings.More

Visited this restaurant as it was close to our Hotel and it did not disappoint. We had set menus with the Gyoza, they were pretty big and were stuffed with filling! They were quite full on (so go hungry!) and could have done with being...given a bit more veg. In summary, a nice family run place with great Sappori beer and tasty foodMore

Right next to our hotel. Gyozas were fairly large and tasted great. We both had the garlic Gyoza in set meals with noodles or soup. Accompanied by great Sapporo draft beer. Recommended!

My partner and I were so excited to come here after reading that they offered an array of dumplings/gyoza’s including vegetarian. Unfortunately, while when you read the menu it does appear that there are vegetarian options, it doesn’t mention that all dumplings have a pork...base. I confirmed this with the staff. There are some (limited) food options for vege’s but sadly none of the delicious looking dumplings. The staff were lovely and my partner loved his pork-based dumplings, hence the 4 star rating:More

Had our 2nd dinner here. Very delicious! They are open until 830pm. These were the best gyozas we've ever tasted. We had crab, shrimp and vegetable gyozas. Noodle soup for our 8-year old and dumpling soup. You can taste the fresh vegetables. So delicious. They...also have an English menu.More

Stopped in for a bite while staying in nearby ryokan. Mom and pop type place that hand makes their noodles and potstickers which were hands down the best I ever had. Place is open when most others is closed. You will not be disappointed. I...suggest getting one of the Set meals.More

We arrived to the restaurant at 18. First there was a waiting list, then we were forgotten by the staff. Got food more than an hour later, of which half an hour I tried to catch the waitresses' attention. Finally my boyfriend went to the...counter to tell the stressed waitress that we were hungry. Great dumplings was the only reason it got a 2 and not a 1. A lot of families with small kids seem to go to this restaurant.More

We arrived as a group of 6 and they moved another group to fit us in- they showed that you don’t need a common language to be very friendly and hospitable. There were plenty of English menus and a choice of interesting set menus focusing...on noodle soup/miso soup/dumplings. Try the wing tip dumplings- it’s a partially deboned chicken wing filled with gyoza filling- delicious!More

We found this chinese restaurant near our hotel close to Hakone, and we were very pleased! The gyoza were the best I have had in Japan and they offered unique types of gyoza. The beef curry and garlic gyoza were my favorites, and my wife...really enjoyed the tuna gyoza. The gyoza set was served with chinese noodles or ramen, which was also pretty good. But, the gyoza were the star of the show, and cooked perfectly. A great restaurant option among the limited options in the area.More

The name of this place is a tad confusing as it's China House and yes it does have Pandas on the front. We had dumplings and a bowl of Mongolian Noodles, both were so nice we will be going back to try other listed dishes....Price was about normal for Japan $30 AUD for drinks and meal. Nothing is cheap in Japan compared to other Asian countries. You won't be disappointed.More

Staying in a remote town like Hakone you do not expect to fine this gem of a restaurant. The cuisine is chinese based and the portions are fairly big. The main reason for coming here though is the dumplings or gyoza. Lots of choices.
