Tokaiya has great bbq pork miso ramen. There was enough meat for every bite of noodles. The flavor was outstanding. We had gyoza also which had big hane or crust around them, and maguro rice which was flavorful and reasonable. Thumbs up!! But go early when they sell out they close for the day. Also, a bit of a line to get in.

We visited Otaru for the day and stopped here for ramen. It's just a few blocks from the Otaru train station. My wife had the soy ramen and I had the BBQ pork miso ramen. Both dishes were outstanding -- we both said this was the best ramen we ever had! The gyoza was incredible also -- piping hot and perfectly flavored. We waited about 20 minutes to get in just before 2 pm. It was so worth the wait!

The Japanese-style bbq pork ramen and the dumplings were absolutely delicious. I strongly recommend.

Small location with amazing food. Bar style seating with only eight seats. Always a wait to be seated. Worth the wait too.

Ordered No 3 as recommended by other reviews. The staff are friendly and an English menu was provided. I arrived around 1700 and didn't have to wait long to be seated. Food was delicious and worth a visit if you looking for a tastey meal. If I am in Otaru again I will be eating here again.

Small family-run restaurant, just off the Main Street. Away from the busy bustling Otaru Canal, we were lucky to have been served first, having arrived at 530pm. The place filled up fast soon after with only 12 seats. We ordered the BBQ Pork Ramen, which comes recommended by many, arriving with the pork still sizzling off the pan. The Gyoza comes in a unique style with a thin, crispy crust and a tasty filling that is the perfect complement to the bowl of ramen. By far, the BEST ramen we have had in Japan so far. Such flavourful broth, pork barbecued to perfection - so tender and delicious, and texture of noodles just perfect. You get a spoonful of spicy miso to add to your broth (you can ask for more if you wish). This place is not to be missed. Such a good end to our visit to Otaru, we will be back someday!!!

I came across the earlier reviews and decided to look for this small ramen bar. It's located in one of the small streets along the main road near Otaru Station. Small set up with 3 staff. Sits probably 10 or 12 all counter bar. We went with our 6 year old. Go early so you don't need to wait too long. We were there about 1145. Took about 30 mins wait from the time we stepped in, got seated and had our ramen in front of us. No 3 which was miso bbq ramen was so so delicious. The pork was amazing. You could see the chef taking his time to bbq the meat. You will be given a spoon of spicy miso to add in. I added 2 spoons since my girl doesn't take spicy. It wasn't hot by singaporean standards but it made the taste of the soup more flavourful. This is our 3rd round to Otaru so it's good to try something other than usual. Highly recommended. Would be better for small groups else you need to break up your group and sit and eat in smaller groups.

I was recommended this restaurant by a fellow traveler and I was not disappointed. My wife and I both chose the Japanese Style BBQ Pork Miso Ramen. The substantial bowl of steaming hot broth and perfectly cooked noodles was presented to us. The BBQ pork was still sizzling on top. The ramen was provided with a chili bean paste that thickened and added a hint of heat. I used the whole provided spoonful as did my wife and it was not too hot. The restaurant itself is quite small but spotlessly clean. I ordered a draft Sapporo Classic beer which came in a beautiful crystal type glass that created a beautiful creamy head on the beer. I was surprised by how good the beer tasted from the glass. If i am ever back in Otaru I will definitely return for a wonderful ramen and great beer. I might even return tomorrow night. Thanks to my Singaporean traveler friend who recommended Ramen Toykaiya.

One of the best meals during our trip of 8 days. The broth is excellent and the noodle is just right. The stir fried pork is superb. It is a really small restaurant, so you may need to wait for quite a while because it can only accommodate around 10 - 12 people at a time. We visited quite early (around 6pm) so the wait wasn't that long. A definite must try!

One of the best ramen I have in Hokkaido, Japan. It is located a few blocks away from the canal. This place is like a ramen bar, very cool.

We decided to try this place based on excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. It’s quite easy to find as it’s near the station. Menu is very limited and in fact only has 3 ramen choices. We ordered the Japanese Style Barbecued Pork Miso Ramen, Light Soy-Sauce Ramen, and Gyoza. The Miso Ramen is very good and the BBQ Pork is very tasty. We did not quite like the Soy-Sauce Ramen though as it was too light it was as if it didn’t seem to have any soy sauce at all. The gyoza is very good and the extra crispness to make the “wings” is a very nice touch. We would have loved to have been able to order a BBQ Pork in rice though especially since my son is allergic to fish and they only have Bonito Rice.

Jazzy vibes in a small restaurant that serves really delicious ramen! We had the shoyu ramen and BBQ pork miso ramen and neither disappointed us!
