Everybody said if I came to hoi an, I should try chicken rice. Perfect chicken but the price was a bit higher.

Best Com Ga in Hoi An !!! Full of locals and that’s a good sign. Their Com Ga is super flavourful and the chicken is so tender. For offal lovers, their Long Xao Trung is just truly divine. A mix of all the chicken goodies...you can find including chicken blood and chicken ovary on a plate !!! Be prepared though, as the staff do not speak much english and you might have to share tables with others (which is also a good sign!!!). We went here twice in a row during our trip!More
We made a mistake of not asking the prices. The rice dishes were reasonable prices however the chicken salad was over priced IMO. They charged us 100k vnd for a small dish of chicken salad. It wasn't anything special. Overall we had 2 chicken rice...dishes (35k each), chicken salad (100k) and 2 drinks (15k each)...total 200K. Always remember the golden rule, if they don't have prices display, always ask. But this didn't work for us in some places. They charged us higher prices even after we asked them before we ordered.More
We came here after reading a recommendation from a ‘foodie’ blog. It was expensive (which is ok if great food), but it was far from great. As a family of four, my husband and children ordered the same dish of chicken leg with rice and...I ordered the wings with rice, but was not keen on it and just picked at it and ate the salad. During the night child number one was extremely poorly (still not right 24th so later) Sick like he had never been sick before, couldn’t even keep water down. The next day child number two was poorly swiftly followed by my husband with the same symptoms of extreme sickness and upset stomach. This was the only venue that we ate at where my husband and children ate the same meal and I ate something different. Awful experience. If I could leave zero stars on this review I would.More
Very bad Service attitude. Never comback agian. The owner treat the guest like a begger. And the food quality is not good as expect...
We arrived in Da Nang and were picked up by our driver for the rest of the duration that we would be in Vietnam. But first, we headed to the ancient town of Hoi An where we stayed for the next 2 nights. Nothing much...to say about the accommodation because it was an AirBnB - so when we checked in, our host recommended this place that serves the best chicken rice in Hoi An. As most of us were rather exhausted, we decided to follow the advise because.. who knows better about the town than the local? We stopped right in front of this restaurant late evening - the look on the waiter's face upon seeing such a big group was priceless 😆 anyhow he still served us.. the whole restaurant was not that big and to some extent, claustrophobic if you went in big group. Yet it didn't stop the locals as well as tourists from enjoying the chicken rice there. ◾Free flow of lime, chilly and pickles on the table ◾clear soup garnished generously with coriander ◾rice was very good - buttery, absorbed the essence of the chicken and most importantly, not lumpy at all. ◾chicken salad complete with basil leaves, onio d and chicken slices ◾Whole chicken - in fact we ordered two whole birds to be eaten between 11 of us. Juicy, tender and flavourful... Just what a good poached chicken supposed to be. ◾NOTE... But one thing that surprised us was the unassuming bowl of the innards - gizzards, heart, intestines, etc.. drenched in a tasty and reddish looking soup. I didn't know what they had added into the soup but that bowl got us adding additional rice to eat. We even asked for extra bowls of the innards just because we couldn't get enough of it. After the awesome dinner, we walked for a while before hailing Grab back to our AirBnB to call it a night.More
Despite the big name, their chicken is not tender and service is lousy. There are so many better place in Hoi An, this one certainly can skip
Dissatisfaction totally! My home made chicken rice is much much better than this propaganda. The rice is cool and hard. Rice quality is not good. The source is nothing but a liquid bow. Recommend not to try any chicken rice in Hoi An
So today’s driver recommended this place as good for local chicken dishes. Well that may be but we think we got taken for tourists (even though my wife is Vietnamese). Chicken rice was OK but 2 plates of it and a chicken salad with bony...dark meat (no other dishes) came out to 160,000 VND which is robbery for this area! We only went cuz the driver said it was good but will not return.More
The line up outside (of mostly locals) was a great indication of what was to come. This restaurant had come recommended and did not disappoint. We all ordered chicken rice, which was delicious. The man who served us spoke some English which made it a...bit easier. This was one of my favourite meals in Vietnam and was really inexpensive.More
This is a no frills chicken rice shop. The green papaya salad and fried eggs is very good and I mean very very good. There must be something about Hoi An eggs that it is so fragrant that I have not had for years. Maybe...it’s from free range chickens eating natural diet. Environment is very local.More
This was recommended by our cooking class teacher in Ho Chi Minh, and this place did not disappoint. Maybe because we had the local vibe where locals were eating here and the place was pretty small. We shared a table with a small Vietnamese family....Moreover, the soup and the meal itself felt that our tongue pallette were left clean, non oily food and healthy. We have no comparison to what Hoi an chicken rice is all about except Singapore chicken rice but it was totally different from the Singapore chicken rice that we know of. If you prefer something more spacious then this is not your place.More
I came there for lunch.I ate chicken rice in many small street restaurants,it is much better than this restaurant. The rice and chicken too dry and cold.Ba Buoi is only reputation.
As a Vietnamese from Europe I am really interested in good places to have Vietnamese food. Com ga has always been a warming meal for me when I visit my parents or grandparents. This place was nothing like it. You get a ton of rice...and a couple of dry cooked chicken slices from a kitchen without the love of a true Vietnamese cook. There is no flavour in the chicken, accompanied by very scarce vegetables and a lot of rice which is cooked okay. The pictures from 2018 look great but not like the current day portions (unfortunately did not take a picture). You can see the Vietnamese bouncer at the door directing all the tourists to their seat. There is nothing personal about the place and Ba Buoi (grandmother Buoi) is nowhere to be found. But it wouldn’t be Vietnam if there weren’t plenty of other Com Ga restaurants in the same street. My advise would be to give the other restaurants a chance, a place where they are grateful to have you as their guest and have not forgotten about the real taste of Com ga. Maybe avoid this restaurant for a while until Ba Buoi comes back and sets the whole thing straight. We will definitely come back again, just to see if things have changed. Last time I was here was 6 years ago and Hoi An has been overwhelmed with visitors since then. This is a great thing! But I hope the Vietnamese will keep up their usual standard of love and courtesy for their kitchen and their guests.More
When talking about hội an faifoo and chicken rice, they talk about Bà Buoi for sure, good chicken bút rice was too dried. Extremely crowd, due to their reputation. Not enough fan. Highly recommended to take away, bút bé ready to wait in long queue
