Initially ordered two serves of Cao Lau.. The waiter persuaded us to order one Cao Lau and one Grilled meat with noodles and share the dishes. Enjoyed the Cao Lau with a squeeze of lime but not so much the grilled meat with noodles. It had an acidic taste and contained pickled vegetables. We finished all the food and counted the dish as another new taste, but not to be repeated. The herbal drink for 10,000 VND was delicious and the beer is cheap.

This place is a treat. This was the third place my wife and I tried the local food of Cau Lau. We tried it in the night market, and in a fancy restaurant Morning Glory and this was by far the best. We appreciated the fact that it is family run and is basically eating inside their living room. We will go back again and won’t eat it anywhere else.

Cao Lau Khong Gian Xanh is without a doubt a must in Hoi An, one of the local and typical restaurants where you can taste an amazing cao lau. There are many who, unaware of this jewel, pass by without even noticing it: we too, if we hadn't found it among the recommendations on our Lonely Planet, would certainly have missed it.
Almost hidden by a green canopy and built just behind the yellow walls of the Ancient City, this little family-run restaurant was an incredible discovery and one that I highly recommend! We were welcomed by the contagious and warm smiles of the elderly women who beckoned us to sit wherever there was space, on the metal tables with plastic chairs topped with old fans: the experience is very typical and Vietnamese and the food, I guarantee , truly exquisite and at an exceptional price!
We ordered 2 dishes of chay cao lau (the vegetarian version) and 2 Tiger beers, spending a total of 120,000 VND (around €4.50). Whether you opt for the classic or vegetarian version, the cao lau arrives in gigantic portions and is freshly prepared by the pretty Vietnamese ladies who work on the visible stoves of this little place. An unmissable experience, believe me, to fully immerse yourself in this city!

This place was sadly dissappointing.
The noodle soup/s we ordered were, although cheap in price, bland and tasteless.
However if you have a love of kitch plastic flowers, or an insane amount of burning incense wafting in your face with your food, then you've found your place.
Please note that I respect all religions.
I just feel that when an enclosed place of eating, has an incredibly insane amount of incense billowing in your face and at lunch/dinner to boot, it makes it hard to eat with a smile.

We had dinner tonight at this busy, efficient, friendly restaurant. We tried the Cao Lau, and grilled meat and noodles, served with accompanying sauces. Both were delicious and authentic, one of the best meals we’ve had in our week in Hoi An, and came in at under $10 Aus., including a beer and juice.
We were in and out in about an hour.
Chatting with the owner afterwards he informed us the building/restaurant has been in the same family for five generations over 300 years. A must visit.

Very tasty food at reasonable prices. Both dishes cost 40,000 dong each. We had fried fish with noodles in a very good sauce/marinade and Cao lau.
A Tiger beer costs 20.00 dong.
The conditions were extremely friendly. I would gladly go back.

I came here to taste the Cao Lau, after reading many recommendations about this place. Service was fast, I was seated immediately and was served within 5 minutes. I found the Cao Lau tasty and well cooked, although the portion is relatively small compared to other restaurants in the area. So you may have to get a side dish as well if you are hungry. Staff was helpful and some could even speak English. Do note that they close early, so you should probably come no later than 7:30pm.

Small authentic family business with good Vietnamese cuisine. Menu is clear and the food comes very quickly.
The restaurant is hidden in a small alley right next to the busy main streets.
No English, but ordering using the menu is no problem.
We would love to come back - thank you!

Absolutely superb. Traditional Vietnamese restaurant that we found on a blog. Only have about 7 things on the menu, but I had BĂąn thĂt núóng which was noodles, salad, mint, peanuts and grilled meat. Was absolutely delicious. Menu in English and staff spoke enough to get by. 10/10

Ate here a couple of times. Between us, my wife and I had the Cao Lau, vegetarian Cao Lau and Com Ga (chicken rice).
Of those, we'd rate the vegetarian Cao Lau five stars, Cao Lau four (pork was dry, everything else great) and unfortunately the Com Ga was probably the worst I've ever had (even in western countries) (dry stringy chicken, rice flavour not great).
Lesson is, order the food the restaurant is named after and you'll have a good meal.

We passed by this restaurant just to fill a gap, not expecting much. Safe to say this was one of the best food-related surprises I’ve ever entailed! I ordered the traditional cao lau and I was genuinely shocked and how good it all tasted. The noodles and pork were out of this world. Definitely stop by this place, the meal only cost £1.50 too!!

We tried pretty much everything on the menu. My 15 yo smashed two com ga. I had cao lau. Hubby had bun thit nuong. At 40k each they were terrific value. Soft drinks 15k. Owner and staff were very kind, showing us what condiments to try. Journey from our hotel down the river was beautiful. Well worth a visit.

This a jewel in a small street in the center of Hoi An close to the famous bridge. The menu has not mutch to offer, just 9 dishes. We came here because there were a lot of local visitors, witch is always good. The food is good although not excellent. The service is not very friendly, but fast and efficient. And the restaurant is for sure not clean to Western European standards. The restaurant is very cheap, even for Vietnam. Highly recommended for everyone who wants something different.

Yummiest bun thit nuong, wish we had discovered this place at the start of our stay.
All of us gave it a 10/10 & we've tried alot around here.
A real family run business set up off of an alleyway. Highly recommend coming in!
Thanks
