Cafe Safak is on Muze Cd, in central Göreme. The family who own it take pride in serving traditional Turkish food to hungry travelers. The lady owner welcomed me and was helpful about explaining some menu items. The baristas delivered hot coffee with a flourish. My spinach and cheese gozleme (flat pancake with a filling) was hot, crisp and right out of the oven. Everything was served promptly; the dining area was clean. The WiFi stayed up. Prices were reasonable.

This is a traditional family Turkish restaurant. The lady who runs this is just the kindest. The food is tasty and home cooking which makes it extra special. I highly recommend the lentil soup it’s the best I’ve had in my six months of travel. It is great to warm you up on a cold winter day. The gozleme are a must also. I also stopped in here on multiple occasions for traditional Turkish coffee and always felt welcome. She also runs cooking classes. What a great way to learn Turkish home style cooking!

This is charming, family run caffe/restaurant. From the very first moment we felt like being at our home. Food is so delicious that we took cooking class led by Gulsum, Fatma’s daughter. We spent 4 hours preparing lunch together with her, we learnt to prepare extremely tasty lentil soup, eggplants stuffed with beef, sarma in wine leaves and traditional Goreme dessert Aside. Than we had lunch with Gulsum and we really had great time with her. We highly recommend this cafe, it is not comparable with other places here. Because of this cafe and Fatma and her family we feel Goreme as our home. Prices are the lowest in Goreme but this is not impacting quality of the food and service. We also liked very much cold apple juice and coffee, sometimes we just came here to have one drink, see dear people and then we continued with exploring Cappadocia.

We did the cooking class through Cafe Safak, after reading some great recommendations on here and also on Lonely Plant. The course was very expensive at 250 TL, but we gave it a go anyway, and it was unfortunately a bit of a let down. Fatma's daughter, who was lovely, took the class in their 'home kitchen' which is actually the shared kitchen for the hostel they run, which was very dark and actually had a bed on a ledge next to the kitchen which was odd. Fatma's daughter had very limited English which was fine and not an issue, but what was disappointing was the actual cooking class itself was more watching her cook. We cut aubergines, stirred some pots, and learnt to assemble the vine leaves, however, the rest of the 3 hour class was us standing and watching. It was a shame as other cookings classes we have done are hands on, and at times it even felt like we were getting in her way when she was cooking. The food was delicious, if a little basic, but the fact we paid a combined 500 TL to basically watch someone cook was a real waste of money and I wouldn't recommend to others.

Going on a hike one day I was looking for someplace that could make a nice sandwich and I happened upon this cozy cafe. The woman running the places very friendly and made me exactly what I asked for and even though every place is packet service only during the pandemic she let me sit and offered me some tea while I waited. I liked the place so much that I came back 3 more times at the beginning of my hikes. I highly recommend you stop by for a nice meal.

We found this family owned restaurant and it was one of the best dinner in town if not the best. The homemade meatballs were the best we had on our stay and the chilli souce was delicious, also their special gozleme was excellent. Real traditional cuisine and the owner was so so nice, she just warms your heart.

Friendly family run restaurant with homemade food. You can see them preparing some of the dishes when it's quiet which is interesting to watch. Prices are good and I've returned enough times to work my way through most of the menu 😜 Their lentil soup, çorba, is still one of my favourites, as well as the menemen for breakfast ♥️ I prefer to eat at these homely places than non descript restaurants so if you do too, you'll enjoy spending a couple of hours here, maybe writing postcards or journaling or just waiting for your bus. Cooking classes are available in a cave kitchen where you are taught to make a 4 course meal and then you sit together afterwards to eat it. (and I got to learn how to make the çorba!) If coffee is important to your morning routine, theirs is great as Ali has worked as a barista in Australia. You can always get the right kind of food, any time of the day. Thanks Fatma, Gülsüm, Ali and Mehmet

We found this cafe on a trip adviser forum for “laundry in Goreme”. We were very happy with the Landry service provided, 80 liras for a load that was returned air dried and folded - a great option for a place with no Kinsey facilities and very expensive hotel laundry pricing (10-15 euros per load). Excellent service and lovely staff. We tried coffee whilst we were waiting which was great. Highly recommend

We loved Cafe Safak. We came for lunch the first day we stayed in Goreme & had the lentil soup, vegetarian plate and hummus. It was so good we came back the next day to try the vegetarian Turkish ravioli. The owners were very welcoming, offering a free starter, and it was very affordable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We were in search of the best traditional dessert and stumbled around by this small family owned restaurant. Jesus ( the one that served us) welcomed us warmly and the father and mother even chatted to us also. I would recommend this to anyone with no hesitation...

I read via Lonely Planet that it was possible to follow a cooking class there. While it seemed very exciting the price was simply too high. On Lonely Planet they state it is only 200 lira per person. Yet when we asked today, they said it was 40 euros/760 lira per person when we went to ask about the class (we are with 5 people so that would be pricey). If you want to do this class go there at the first day you arrive jn Göreme and ask when it is possible to do so as well.

The place is small and we chose to seat outside. We ordered lentil soup, Safak salad, meat balls, hummus, baklava. Everything was very, very tasty! We wanted to order one more baklava, but it turned out it was the last. But Fatma was so kind to offer sutlac for free and tea. I would highly recommend the place because of the vibe, kind Fatma, the food and the good prices.

This is a simple little cafe in the heart of Goreme. We enjoyed a home cooked lunch with chicken in sauce and salad. It was pretty simple but tasty and was very reasonably priced. The lady who served us was very nice which is not always the case. We would eat there again.

We had a really nice cooking class organized by cafe safak with the owners daughter. Cooked a delicious meal (even with a vegetarian option and a meat option). The class took about 4 hours and we sat together and ate the 4 course meal together in the hostel where we cooked. Really enjoyed it and highly recommendable!

Did our laundry at Cafe Safak. Looks like the price is 300TL for a 3kg load - they asked for 600TL (cash only) for our larger bag of clothes. They managed to ge it done by around 715pm though we handed it in around lunchtime. Tip: do not leave exposed clothing in the car as it quickly became damp in an hour!
