I came to Spices & Herbs with a large group and was most impressed. The setting is lovely and well appointed. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious - a variety curries and dishes were presented on a platter and you ate these with Ethiopian pancakes. I would highly recommend a visit if you are staying in... More

The injera here is mostly rice with a modicum of teff. Another place in town (Abyssinia) looked good but their injera contains wheat there. We haven't found 100% teff injera in Arusha yet. Anyway, Herbs is GF friendly and the food is easily done vegan. Amazing taste!

This is a lovely restaurant with real Ethiopean food, customs and decoration at a fair price. It is very clean and the atmosphere is wonderful, totally recommend it!

Had a fantastic lunch prior to leaving the country at this Ethiopian restaurant. There were tremendous options for any palate. The food was excellent and the service matched it. Would eat there again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys ethnic foods from Ethiopia and/or Africa. Warning, you'll have to use your fingers. You can manage the amount of spice... More

I read reviews about places on TA where to eat in Arusha. This was a MUST do on my list and it did NOT disappoint! All in all it was good, not exceptional. The food is nice, the atmosphere is nice. Everything is just nice, but not beyond. The waitress had poor English and had a hard time explaining the dishes but she managed some how. The food is delicious though.

Spices & Herbs had some of the best food we ate during our time in Tanzania and Kenya! Delicious Ethiopian food as well as great wood-fired pizza (that was quite a pleasant surprise). Their masala chai was my favorite of the trip. Efrain and his staff were wonderful. The lodging was simple yet did the trick. The restaurant and central... More
