We decided to celebrate some good news with dinner at this lovely colonial style hotel. We were made very welcome and given a choice of tables. Our evening started with a wonderful bread basket and the outstanding tuna tartare. We then enjoyed the shoe lobster tagliatelle and a fish dish. There is a good selection of wine and we liked... A stunning hotel and a view in to the grandeur of colonial times. We visited for high tea, which was huge, it was recommended that we had two silver tiers but could not finish the one we shared. There were all the usual afternoon tea suspects on the menu; two huge scones with homemade jam and cream, sandwiches, cakes, savoury... More

The starters were excellent, with the carpaccio a must try. However as they had multiple events occurring that evening, the waiters were hard to come by. Two of us ordered the same main, however one came 25 minutes after the other. We finally managed to get hold of the meal by knocking on the door of the kitchen. They may... More

In a historic building this restaurant is a gem. The food is presented well. However soups starters and mains are priced at about 20 dollars which in my opinion is double what it is worth. The service is one of the best in the fort region and we'll worth the visa. Marked low due to the high price

Had lunch at the Amangalla and the food was good , generous portions, waiters and staff friendly . The out doors seating was a bit hot but all in all it was pleasant. The fish curry was delicious and the coconut ice cream yummy

If you want to stay at the very best hotel and enjoy old colonial charm stay at Amangalla. We visited and loved this hotel it is simply superb. We met friends to share a cocktail on the extensive and charming balcony. It is like an old colonial movie set. True 5 Star Luxury and ambiance not easily found.

We stopped at Amangalla for afternoon tea to get out of the Galle heat. It's not cheap but it's a beautiful old building restored to an incredibly high standard and the food is really excellent. As a regular visitor to Cornwall my only comment would be that you never seem to get clotted cream in other countries - other sorts... More

Ever since I visited here with a girl friend for trysts and tricks in the 80's, one can now add Tea to it. When Nesta owned the place Id scurry scamp like to my suite , up the stairs and in "her masters chambers". To surface at the end of a weekend, debauched and sated. Now there is a reason... More
