People may come here for the food ( which is delicious) but stay for Fazel. The old owner of this establishment is a natural born story teller and will seduce you with his endless stories and knowledge about Galle... So turn off your smartphone and listen to him...

Had dinner here. The food was very nice and freshly made. Staff is very friendly. The portion size for the curries was a bit small, but then we saw others with noodles and they had very full plates, so perhaps we chose the wrong food. Compared to the rest of Galle this restaurant is cheap! Would go there again!

Good and reasonably priced restaurants are few and far between in Galle Fort. This place is one of the best I discovered. Everything is cooked from scratch so when busy can be a bit of a wait. Everything we had during 2 meals was great. Owner is an interesting and engaging man too, suspect his walking tours would be fun.

Fazal made us delicious curry and took us on a wonderful walking tour of the fort. We learned colonial and recent history, as he pointed to monuments, plants and architecture. I do recommend a morning tour though, because it gets pretty hot in the Fort by midday.

Looks cute, but the roti was awful, crisp to the point it was difficult to bite a bit off. Maybe I just hit a bad roti day as it seems popular on other reviews

The food here is outstanding , when busy you may wait a while but knowing everything is freshly done makes it worth while .. Try the egg Masala it will not disappoint . Mr Fazal the old gentleman who owns this small shop/cafe is a legend !

We spent the day in Galle and we're looking for afternoon tea. We walked passed this little cafe without really realising it was what can only be described as a mini cafe on the balcony of a privately owned house. On second glance we noticed a little board saying tea and cake. We stopped and had iced tea with a... More

There is a lot to do and see on the beautifull island of Sri-Lanka. Galle, with its Fort and local market, makes no exception. So, at some point of your trip, you could need a break... And the Royal Dutch Cafe is the perfect place to stop the time and relax. Just sit down at a table of the shadowed... More

We decided to stop by, get some shade and have a quick snack and the place looked really simple, but colourful and very cosy with an extensive menu with a really tasty sandwiches and salads. Besides the staff was really charming. Highly recommended
