Don't let the outside fool you, we were very surprised how good this place was, we stopped on our way back from Carlsbad Caverns. Nice full salad bar, and can't say enough good things about Brandie our server she was excellent and recommend some very...good items. I like that you can see the cooks. The decor does need some updating and repairs but the food had a great flavor and served hot.More

Walked into the restaurant to see if we could see a menu as we were headed back to our home state from our 2 week tour of National Parks. We decided to eat at the restaurant. All went well until I asked a server if...a dinner roll came with the meal. Then the server meltdown occurred. I asked you if you wanted bread. NO THE BREAD DISCUSSION WAS WITH MY GLUTEN FREE SPOUSE. THEN THE ROLL DROPPED ONTO THE TABLE IN A BASKET AND BOUNCED ALONG WITH A 5 MINUTE TIRADE OF BATHROOM RELATED WORDS ABOUT THE STAFF BEING MISTREATED BECAUSE OF THE ROLL. Then the server started clattering dishes around to make noise and show us she was mad about the roll. ANOTHER SERVER BROUGHT MY CHECK WHICH WAS INACCURATE AND STARTED ANOTHER TIRADE ABOUT MISTREATMENT also with bathroom references while we were eating and in front of a 7 year old. I asked to speak with a manager and was misled into talking to someone that turned out not to be the manager. Then the cashier could not fix the over charge for the items inaccurately charged. I did eventually find the manager when I was back in Texas at home and they had nothing to offer in the way their servers approached guests and spoke with children present. I was told they could not fire them as they had no one to hire to replace them as no one in the town really wanted to work. Avoid the situation and the bad experience and eat at a major chain restaurant instead!More

I should have expected something was up when the waitress seemed surprised I didn't want steak sauce. Ribeye was tough and very under seasoned. At least the baked potato was properly cooked and the salad bar was decent.

We live in Carlsbad 45 minutes to Artesia so we ordered food from here because the restaurants in Carlsbad will not pay any attention to the covid 19 restrictions! So anyways we ordered food and they said 30 minutes we’ll i went inside after 30...minutes and then waited 20 more minutes. People going in and out of this restaurant with no face masks on and the employees inside not wearing face masks. The food was terrible and the people taking care of the counter to get your food was very unorganized. I will never eat here again!More

You get an outstanding meal at a super great cost! The staff and owner are great people who love the Military and Law Enforcement. I will definitely go back.

We were a large group (over 10 people) attending a convention. The waitress was speedy and she prepared individual receipts for each diner! Wow I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it was tasty.

The salad bar is awesome. A lot of variety and the selections are fresh. The beef entrees are not as good. Flavor is ok but usually too tough and not cooked to order. The sides are decent. The service is usually very good.

Visited here for an evening meal during our road trip stopover in Artesia. We were advised that a reservation might be sensible (Friday evening) so made the call and spoke to Phyliss (yep, that’s the correct spelling) who was very welcoming and worked out immediately...I was “a booth kinda guy” (!?) What a reception from the staff! They were all great, very attentive, very interested in our travels. The salad bar was extensive and very fresh and well presented. Didn’t try the soup - no reason, just didn’t. We chose the rib eye and strip steak respectively, good steaks properly cooked by the hard-working team in the kitchen, which is “open” so you can see what’s going on. There is an extensive menu including fish so probably something for everyone. All in all, good value, great service, friendly and welcoming team. Thanks!More

We were traveling through Artesia and chose this restaurant. We were very glad we did. We both had the NY strip steak dinner which was excellent. It also included a very extensive salad bar with soup. The service was also excellent! We would highly recommend...this restaurant.More
