I went to Pica after reading rave reviews and because one can only eat so many Nasi Gorengs in a single week…
This restaurant is only open for dinner, not lunch. It is fairly small so you may need to book to be sure of a spot. That said, I arrived early at 6.30pm and it was not truly busy until about 8pm.
Service was a little slow, which is normal in Bali. They also made a bit of a key faux pas in my view, which hopefully others can learn from here: The menu is split into starters, empanadas, ceviches, mains and sides. As I was not sure about plate sizes I asked if just a starter and a ceviche was enough or if I should get a main also. The waitress seemed surprised I would want that much and assured me a starter and main would be enough. It wasn’t and once I ate my ceviche I ordered the pork main, which took another 25 minutes in the kitchen, before getting into the dessert. Maybe I’m a greedy boy but probably a better balance would be at least one of either a starter/ empanada/ ceviche and then a main on top.
As for the food itself, I ordered the goat soufflé after I had heard so much about it. The soufflé was indeed not huge and very good. Not that it was bad but it comes with tomatoes and peanuts and I did not find that these enhanced or complimented the soufflé itself. The ceviche was excellent and fresh. The pork and the crème caramel were also superb.
TLDR - it is a very good restaurant that needs to fine tune a few small aspects of its menu and service. Book ahead.

Oh my god this restaurant was amazing. Peruvian roast chicken was our main course, prawn starter for jayne and beef and chilli " stew" for me. Broccoli in soy and amazing tomatoes and goat cheese side dishes.
Simply the best meal ever and great value .
Its situated amongst the boutique side streets of Ubud and bit tricky to find , but ohhh so worth it !!!
Its a small restaurant and fully booked . Think they looming for larger premises as we speak , although we loved the intimacy and atmosphere as it is .
We saw it in a guide book described as " word on the street , best restaurant in Ubud, think we agree!!!

I stumbled upon this restaurant in Ubud and wow I’m so glad I did. It was absolutely delicious. I had the scallops baked in Parmesan for my starter, and it may just be one of the most delicious things I’ve EVER ordered, absolutely wonderful and I wish I could go back again. I live in London so I’m very accustomed to eating good food and this was definitely up there as a very memorable meal. Very friendly staff and beautiful restaurant too. Would definitely recommend when in Ubud!

Our first time to Pica and definitely not the last.
Yes, it's more expensive than other Ubud restaurants.
But worth it!
We had the ceviche (absolutely delicious), the fish of the day in a clam sauce and the corn tart with mushrooms. All were amazing!!
I couldn't stop talking about it on the walk back to our hotel.
I lived in Ubud for 5 years and this restaurant is serving some very delicious, creative food with great service.
We will be back.

Pica was recommended by a friend but being vegetarian I wasn’t sure that South American would cater well for me. The food was amazing, good cocktails, wine and friendly staff.
The Goats Cheese Soufflé was amazing. My non veggie friend also loved everything she ate and they adapted well for gluten free.
Highly recommended,

The food at Pica was superb - in my opinion this was ‘fine dining’ at its very best. An inventive menu featuring fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection and presented in an appealing way. The service was excellent. I cannot recommend Pica highly enough! Do try the cheese soufflé.

Lets start by saying that I am peruvian born and restauranteur. We had a good service and checked the trip advisor reviews and were amazing.
We ordered conchitas a la parmesana and a ceviche. We received 2 conchitas and 4 scoops of ceviche. The main dish was caucau with fish and 2 scallops was at least enough for me but in all fairness portions are not very but extremely small. I do have to add the food was great but the size was extremely small.
In addition, the owner is not peruvian but chilean…. Saw the chilean frames in the bathroom and asked.
In conclusion, if you are going to pick on food this is the place but if you want to get satisfied with a meal definitely not the place.

Pica was one of the best choice and experience in Bali! The food is amazing, staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy. Don’t judge when you see the simplicity of the place and location - we had a mind blowing dinner! Thank you for the great effort.

I saw Pica recommended on tiktok so decided to try it and am very glad that I did. The restaurant is quite small so it is a good idea to book to ensure you get a table. We didn’t book but were lucky as there was a spare table. For starter we had the goats cheese which was average and I wish there was more goats cheese. For mains I had a chicken dish which was lovely. The chicken was cooked extremely well and I enjoyed it a lot. For dessert I had the chocolate cake which was the best part of the meal. The cake comes with strawberries and nuts and the combination of all the flavours is so tasty and I strongly recommend getting this dessert if you come to Pica. Also the atmosphere is nice and so are the staff.

Outstanding food.... our group of 7 all agreed best meal in Bali so far. Definitely recommend. The starter of goats cheese souffle was delicious, as was the tender juicy chicken dish.. others had variety of seafood & all said fantastic... wonderful friendly service.

We had wanted to visit Pica for a while and we weren’t disappointed.
First impression when we walked in was an intimate, welcoming cosy area with a friendly atmosphere.
Service was prompt and all staff were friendly and explained the specials and were knowledgeable about the menu items. They enquired as to whether we had any food allergies prior to our order.
The food was presented with meticulous care and our eyes ate up the plate well before we tasted anything. We had the Scallops and Soufle’ for entree which quickly had us thinking we had made an excellent booking decision. Our main of Pork belly was presented beautifully and is a deserved headline act on an impressive menu which offers plenty of tough decisions before ordering. The sides were also tasty, fresh and made from high quality ingredients and didn’t tease you with quantity as often happens in other restaurants.
As for cost, it is clearly not in the same bracket as a local restaurant. However, I’m a believer in you get what you pay for and we both walked away feeling as though we had been treated to a high quality meal with very generous portions.
I have no problem recommending Pica to anyone interested in eating something different to Nasi Campur or Mie Goreng while travelling in Ubud.
Don’t miss out on Pica is all I can say.

Amazing! I’m a lover of good food but so rarely super impressed and this place blew me away. Best meal in Bali out of two weeks. Cocktails were excellent and our group of five dined here twice to try everything on the menu. The goat cheese soufflé was so good we begged for the recipe as we’ve never had anything so delicious and I’m not usually a big cheese person. The octopus starter was excellent and the potato cake special topped with octopus, shrimp, and fish was incredible as well. Huge compliments to the chef! This place is tiny so make reservations and like most Ubud restaurants has no AC and can get a little warm seated near the kitchen so I recommend you request an outdoor table in your booking. Next time I come back I’ll be sure to eat here and the chef’s other restaurant Cantina Rooftop too!

We had wonderful sunday evening dinner in Pica and were lucky to get a table since the place seems be fully booked most of the time. The setting and layout is very special if you compare it to other restaurants in the area with a south-american touch. Cocktail, Drink and food selection and presentation were excellent and especially the Paella was an absolute treat. We can only recommend going here since it is something truly different in all catgeories compared to other restaurants closeby.

After my first visit to PICA, this restaurant landed at the top of my list of places to eat in Ubud. Without a recommendation, I would never have entered this restaurant. It's basically an inconspicuous hole in the wall where magic is cooked. I prefer to share 4-5 appetizers so I can enjoy all the magical flavors in one evening. Not may tales so a reservation may be required or go early.

We ate dinner at Pica last night and enjoyed the street life while we dined. The food was delicious and service very friendly. We have eaten at most of the high-end restaurants in ubud and this none was on the more expensive end of the scale when compared to some of the others in the area. Besides that, all good.
