We found Yellow Flower after a lovely walk along the Campuhan Steps. Staffed by a group of friendly and talented young women, the Yellow Flower is obviously named for the vines of delightful yellow flowers that hang down around this magical little cafe. We sat on one of the very comfortable two seater lounges, and ordered the vegetable nasi campur (you can also order this with chicken or mackerel). IT WAS DELICIOUS. Probably one of the best we’ve had in Bali. The portions are a little smaller than what a burly western visitor may expect, but the flavor and skill is huge, and well priced for the portion sizes. To be honest, the portions were actually fine. There’s a super cute little silver gift shop at the front, too. The indoor/outdoor setting made it as covid-safe as possible. After a few years of being closed to tourists, this little cafe staffed and operated by a group of women was a pleasure to visit. We went every day for lunch (the candlenut curry smelled amazing - that’s next on the list!) Thank you Yellow Flower, and welcome back 🌼🌼🌼

I really love this place and visit every time I go to Bali. With travel restrictions in place, we haven’t been able to visit for a while but we are missing the delicious food and beautiful service. It’s the perfect place to sit and be. The medicinal turmeric is a great start to the morning and the kids are well catered for with young coconut and banana pancakes. The buffet on Sunday eve is a unique and delicious offering, authentic Balinese home cooking with organic grown ingredients. Staff care for visitors like family and welcome kids. I am dreaming of walking the rice paddies and sitting for the day, gazing out at the beautiful gardens and view. See you one day soon Yellow Flower!

If you are looking for a positive sunny place far away from the worries of the world, Yellow Flower cafe, near Penestanan steps, in the outskirts of Ubud, is your place :-). It's such a quiet, soothing, relaxing place to just be and the food is super delicious, organic, yummy, and healthy.
The views are stunning, romantic, breath taking, overlooking the jungles on the outskirts of Ubud plus great volcano views and the famous Ubud ridge walk.
My favourite for breakfast is shashuka, a fruit salad and amazing coffee. For lunch they have a special at the moment for 50k you get the best Nasi Campur with a drink and dessert. Can add fresh fish if you are not vegan. And my fave snack are the smoothie bowls, best on the island.
It seems to be a favourite and much loved place by local ex-pats which is always a good sign. Family run, the staff are very friendly and sweet too. A must.

If you manage to climb the 91 (!) Campuhan steps and follow the narrow meandering path you'll come across the Yellow Flower Cafe. I can understand why it gets the rave reviews - it's quirky, split into two halves with the kitchen in the middle, the seating which is everything from bench seats to swing seats, and the views across the valley. If you're lucky enough to be there on a clear day you might see Mt Agung in all her glory. However....
On a bad day you'll find the service can be slow, ingredients and certain items off the menu, and the food not so great. During our week's stay in a nearby Airbnb we went twice, once for lunch where the cafe was pretty busy, so the slow service was understandable, but the food was great, and once for dinner when it was quiet. Unfortunately the service was still slow and the food not so good. So it's a mixed bag really.
On the plus side, the food is sourced locally and it's organic, and freshly made to order. I would certainly go again if I'm in the area.

We’ve happily eaten at Yellow Flower several times over the years and tonight it was underwhelming. Service was very slow (10 minutes for our first beer and 15 with a second request the second time) with the entrees coming out slowly. One person received their entree 5-7 minutes before the next person and it was incorrectly filled. The others followed but not at the same time. The restaurant did not seem to be very busy and there were three people in the kitchen. The food was average tonight as well. We haven’t been in 6 months so was it an “off” night or have things changed?

After climbing a fair number of steps we reached a cosy cafe with hippie vibe and traditional seating area. The view on the valley and rice terraces was gorgous but again it was too hazy to see mount Agung. I had nasi goreng served in an artistically crafted coconut shell, very unique. The red rice was fried in organic virgin coconut oil with vegies and organic fruits. Really fresh and nutritious but for my taste it could be tastier and spicier. As I asked for sambal they only offered tomato chili in a sachet. They served knife and fork while it took ages until I was able to call them for a spoon. Or how am I supposed to eat out of a coconut shell with a knife and a fork? My friend was equally annoyed by their slow and inattentive service and there were not many customers. They cater for Western clients apparently and if you like tasty Indonesian food you better go to one of the typical local warungs.

Excellent location to sip a Bali coffee or cold latte. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyed their Sunday night buffet which served traditional local fare. Service a wee bit slow but not a problem as you contemplate the view

We were quite lucky that our accommodation was a short 3 minute walk to this little gem. We had dinner there on a Sunday night which is the only night they serve a buffet and it was such a delight to try so many local foods in one go. It's run by these lovely women who cook delicious food, as if you are welcomed into their home.
We also had breakfast there a few days later and yet again, we were impressed with how much was on offer and the quality was outstanding. Try the 7th heaven coffee - soooo good :)
They are so lovely there, with beautiful surroundings and a light breezy atmosphere. Can't wait to go back on my next trip to Ubud. Suksma.

We have been coming to Yellow Flower Cafe for a decade and have had countless meals there over the years. Sadly, on our last visit to Penestanan, the YFC just didn’t have the same “feel” that made it so very special and has lost some of its charm.
We visited around lunch time and waited a fair amount of time for one of the many staff to come to our table to take our order. In a short time she returned to tell me that my drink was not available (kombucha) and then again a few minutes later to tell us that our food selection was not available as well. Fair enough, we chose other options and the food and drinks were nice.
Part of the “magic” of Yellow Flower Cafe besides its location and ambience was the peace and warmth it offered on every visit. In a strange way this has somewhat disappeared. Perhaps because of its popularity and location it afforded the staff with the opportunity to care less.
The warmth of the place now seems a bit robotic and cold and the workers/owner seem to be indifferent. This was once a true escape from the western world… this experience almost felt like we were anywhere else but in Bali!

Although this is a beautiful location and flavourful food.....the service is lackluster. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken after trying to get the attention of staff on 2 ocassions. There appeared to be plenty of staff, in excess of 8 and although there were a few occupied tables, the restaurant was not busy.
The first meal arrived 50 minutes after ordering. After a further 10 minutes I asked about the second meal, 10 minutes later the waitress returned and advised they were sorry they had forgotten to make my meal and the second meal arrived another 10 minutes after that.
While we were not in a rush, it would be good for staff to improve communication and service.
The staff appear to be disinterested in the customers.

How can I put it... an hour to prepare a minimalist granola and pancakes when frankly it wasn't Beijing during rush hour - granola: three fruits, granola and milk :)) - ordinary pancakes, a service that seemed unfriendly and ultimately expensive compared to other similar places. And we actually waited an hour or more. Quite cute terrace without anything great either, with rattan chairs straight out of the film Emmanuelle, coffee tables and cushions, pleasant view. Public yoga meditation, peace & love - we are in Ubud. Note for those who may be concerned: from the road, a path between 5 and 10’, including fairly steep stairs, leads to it.
For us, much better elsewhere, for everything.

We stumbled onto ("up"on) Yellow Flower after taking a little urban hike. It's nestled on top of a hidden hill surrounded by yoga houses and a local neighborhood. The view is fantastic and the food is terrific. If you're in Ubud and looking for a great way to start off your day, I'd highly recommend visiting Yellow Flower.

In a lovely tucked way location in Penestanan. Yellow flower has been a favourite on my trips to Bali. The food is healthy without sacrificing flavour and imagination. It is on a peaceful walking path near a yoga studio.

We visited yellow flower cafe 4-5 times during our stay in Ubud. Amazing menu with lots of heathy, vegan, and traditional Balinese options. Some favorites: the F.A.T., 7th heaven coffee, and fresh kombuchas. Everything we got was delicious. The Balinese buffet on Sunday night was delicious and allowed us to try many different Balinese foods (suggestion: signs saying what each item is, so that I can order it again in the future!). Service was surprisingly quick. The cafe itself is very clean, decorated beautifully, and had lovely jewelry for sale. Highly recommend!

I have gone to Yellow Flower Cafe several times - it was recommended by a friend. Otherwise if you do not stay on that side of town it's not necessarily easy to discover.
It's just a gorgeous spot with nature views and sometimes Mt Agung showing itself in full beauty. They use local produce and cook delicious meals. I absolutely loved the classics of Nasi Goreng which was the best take I have personally had and Nasi Campur. But I would return again and again - for good coffee, nice drinks and lovely meals and atmosphere.
