I and my family visited this bar on the first night of our holiday. The band were great. The bar staff on the other hand were terrible. The price off our same round off drinks changed every time we ordered. We would pay the bar man he would pass the money to another women tell us to take a seat... More

Considering the name I expected an excellent shisha but was not the best. Seems more for drinks. Coals were still black. An insult in shisha etiquette.

Currently sitting in the lounge. Appalled that in a town with incredible good, amazing service and a rich culture that this establishment exists, let alone profits. I love Ubud. If you are here for only a short time? Don't waste your time in this joint. Cruise on down to bamboo lounge or CP lounge.

Very nice place to have shisha and drinks, live music almost every evening and good atmosphere!! The food is not bad also although a little expensive for what you get.

Situated in the heart of Ubud, this Lounge is a good place to hang out with friends. The band that was playing music kept the place alive. Food was average, but if you are in great company, then all that will pass.

We stopped in here a few days ago for dinner on my birthday. Bad choice. Grotty, Dirty toilet, no soap, and the food was very bad,We ordered a serve of chips and two burgers. The meat was like rubber, probably a frozen patty. We ate the chips but couldn't bring ourselves to eat the burgers. We ordered 2 burgers, 1... More

The place had a a great vibe. Very casual, great live music in the evening. We went there several times. The only negative is that they dont accept credit cards.

We stopped here because we wanted to check out as many hot spots as possible. It's located across the football field and stands out from the crowd. The feel of the place is obviously Arabic and does it quite well. There are majles areas (Arabic seating area on floor with pillows) a nice warm Arab tent vibe and some good... More

Description
It’s hard to believe that XL Lounge and Bar is only a year old. Started by a couple of tall, strapping Dutch guys (hence the name) it has a Middle Eastern style, complete with shisha pipes and silky draped ceilings, and a friendly ambiance. Owner Herman often agrees to host a fundraiser for a good local cause, and generously changed XL’s back garden area to accommodate the crazy Friday Karaoke crowd, when their other spot closed down. Herman is one of the most welcoming people in Ubud, and of course this attitude rubs off on his staff, so they have a lot of repeat guests. I’m guessing they’ll also have many more birthdays. Congrats XL! Next to the Ubud Library, behind the football field on Jl Monkey Forest. (copied from Bali Advertiser - Ubud News March 9,2011)Live Music playing in the evening four times a week & open until 3AM.
