After spending three and half days in Bali, and enjoying different cuisine at different restaurants in Ubud and Seminyak, I was on the lookout for a good Indian restaurant. It had to be good, because that was our wedding anniversary and Indian because my vegetarian...wife would not be constrained for choice. A friend had recommended Ganesha ek Sanskriti in Kuta and we decided to try it after the Kecak dance in Uluwatu.
On reaching the restaurant, located on the ground floor of a shopping mall, we were happy with the appearance and lay out.
On the choice of drinks to start with, on realising that we are zero alcohol customers, coconut water was offered as a choice and we happily agreed. The girl serving us said, get two coconuts which would be enough. I was stunned to see two coconuts yielding about eight glasses of water! Value for money, indeed.
In deference to the matrimonial alliance, I too opted to go vegetarian, and hence the interesting sounding meat dishes remained untasted. We ordered Dal makhani, vegetable jalfrezi, baingan bharta, kurkuri bhindi, dahi chawal and assorted breads including garlic naan. Each item brought a smile to our faces with the first bite, for the authenticity and quality of the taste. On enquiry, we were told the chef was from Dehradun. The service by the Balinese staff was fast and courteous, peppered with loads of smiles.More
