About
Located in tranquil Jimbaran, Cuca offers a cutting-edge concept of globally inspired, locally sourced tapas, cocktails and desserts. Michelin-trained Chef Kevin Cherkas and his Spanish entrepreneur partner, Virginia Entizne, not only realized a life-time dream opening Cuca in Bali in 2013, but also successfully developed a radically different, casual meets fine-dining experience serving inventive comfort food meant for sharing and bursting with flavour. With its hard-earned solid reputation, Cuca is indeed one of South-east Asia’s most celebrated foodie destinations, coming highly recommended by, among many others, the Michelin Travel Guide and being awarded Trip Advisor Hall of Fame Winner

We visited Cuca from looking at the reviews and we had the best experience. The Food was amazing and the staff and service were also just as good. We have been to some of the best restaurant's in Australia, London and Dubai and I would...say our visit at Cuca was one of the best we have ever had. We have several dishes with wine & Beer for around 1.7M which for the what we have was not expensive. Will be coming back every time we come to Bali.More

Celebrated my 26th wedding anniversary with dinner at Cuca on a friend's recommendation. We were blown away as soon as we stepped out of the car where we were greeted by 2 spiffily dressed young men who escorted us into the compound. It was a...lush and well manicured garden with a spot for picture-taking even! On the food, we decided on the tasting menu with 7 courses, and 2 desserts. Presentation was impeccable! My favourites were the octopus and the beef, wrapped in bone with bone marrow. But everything else tasted really good actually. The dessert to die for was called Snow White, made from frozen yoghurt, poached strawberries and candied rose petals. If you are into cocktails, this is the place for it too! I had the frozen coconut with rum as well as another with lemongrass with gin (I think??!! hic hic). Turned out that we stayed so long for dinner that we were almost the last table to leave. The serving staff were very attentive and service was deserving of a Michelin-star restaurant. I would recommend anyone visiting Bali to check out Cuca!! Kudos to Team Cuca!!More

I recently dined at Cuca, and what started as a promising lunch quickly turned into a significant disappointment. The initial welcome was warm, and the ambiance was inviting, setting high expectations. However, those expectations were swiftly dashed as the meal progressed. The presentation of the...dishes was visually appealing, especially if you are there for content for your Instagram profile. Unfortunately, the flavors were unbalanced and unsatisfying. The Bone Marrow dish, in particular, was a major letdown—such a confusing dish. The Lobster Roll was equally disappointing; sorry chef, but if I bought the frozen ones and cooked them myself in the microwave, they would be exactly the same. The Hawaiana cracker was a funny joke. The crispy chicken was ok (but i mean you just need to drop it the fryer). As a Western man and my partner, an Asian woman, we both found the flavors not only unbalanced but also unappealing. I’m really sorry to say this, but it is the worst food we have ever had, and we were so surprised that it is a Michelin-star restaurant. Moreover, the prices were unjustifiably high for the quality of the food. Service was another area of disappointment. Despite the friendly greeting, the staff was inattentive and slow throughout the meal (we are still waiting for some ice). Not once during our meal did anyone ask how the food was. It was only after we had paid that someone inquired about our experience. When we mentioned that the food was very disappointing, the staff literally laughed, adding insult to injury. To add to our frustration, we’ve experienced far superior food at other restaurants in Bali, including street food vendors. The quality and balance of flavors in even the simplest street food far surpassed what Cuca offered. This is the first time I have ever written a complaint review about a business because I understand how hard it can be for a restaurant. However, this place definitely deserves it. Interestingly, we actually suggest trying Cuca yourself to confirm our experience(obviously don’t give the priority cause 100% will be a disappointment). It’s a stark reminder that nowadays, you cannot always trust food guides due to potential conflicts of interests.More

We had high hope of this restaurant after reading glowing reviews and seeing labels such as "Best in Bali"/"Top 10 Restaurants in Asia". I have travel extensively in Asia and globally. Cuca is in fact one of WORST fusion restaurants that I have ever been....It has been a few years since I wrote my last tripadvisor review. But the experience was so poor that I feel compelled to warn future diners. You have been warned. We ordered 10 dishes amongst the three of us. The portion of each of the dish was very small and meant for tapa-style sharing. The chef was trying very hard to be creative. However, he/she mixed so many favors into one dish and they just don't work. At the end, we left with 3-4 dishes nearly untouched because of the poor taste. Amongst the 10 dishes, Almost Rib and Soft Shell Crabs are relatively better (only relatively, we will never order them again if we have a choice). Everything else was either tasting wired or off. For example, the buns of their BBQ pork buns were soggy, so was the base of their Hawaiian Cracker. The cold butterfish mixed with the pink yogurt made my daughter nearly throw up at the restaurant. Simple dishes such as fried chicken was under seasoned. Overall, I am shocked so many people rated this restaurant highly. I can only speak from my personal experience. It was quite horrible. If you want clean your palate, you can go across the street for some decent gelato at Manja.More

Cuca is an amazing "Not to be missed" experience if you are into good food. A great blend of food, all with some local or Asian twists. The ambience is fantastic with a clean yet warm feeling and a huge open kitchen that can be...dinned by at the Kitchen Bar. This time, we went for a late lunch as it is not so busy arriving around 3:30pm. We started with 2 Tokyo Mojitos as a refreshing palate cleanser before ordering; potatoes in Delhi - new dish nachos - personal favourite k-pop - new dish lobster roll - must order and have with the chili sause if you like a little spice. bbq octopus - nice smoky flavour roasted pork buns - delish and finished with tea-ramisu, another personal favourite. First timers might like to try the Chef Tasting set.More

This a great restaurant in terms of the experience and trying a different way of dinning, we had indoor sitting with curtains that separated each table for privacy, the table are spaced out, outdoor seating also looks like a great option, the ambience of inside...and outside is amazing, the waiting area outside looks amazing they even offer you mosquito spray. The chef option for 8 preselected meals look great but I recommend selecting your own as for the price(which is worth it) you want to have the dishes mostly to fit your taste buds. Cuca offers a preset Chef menu as well as a ka carte. Dishes are tapas size but they recommend three for one meal and it is indeed filling. Slightly disappointed given the price if I'm honest. Why? Well, starting with the drinks, I was half expecting a welcome drink to be included with the Chefs Tasting Menu but there wasn't so my wife had a cocktail at R150 (approximately double what we've been...paying for the last 2 weeks for fantastic cocktails in Bali). It came pre-mixed in a bottle which needed to be poured into a glass with a large lump of ice. No fruit, leaves or garnish. I ordered a beer, which, unlike many places, the staff didn't bother to pour into the glass. Later on, my wife wanted a glass of wine but there was only one white, red or rose by the glass so very limited options. Onto the food, the serving mats describing the dishes were informative but also took away the element of surprise and any excitement at what might be coming next. The first 3 dishes - scallops, pork bun and butterfish were all delicious but after that there was a strange concoction of roasted pumpkin (fine) with granola, green beans and tarragon. I'm not sure what the chef was thinking here to be honest but it was the first food in Bali that I haven't been able to eat. The chicken and beef dishes that followed were slightly disappointing and lacked flavour. However, the 2 desert dishes to finish were very nice. Overall, my wife enjoyed it more than I did but she viewed it more as an activity/experience rather than simply a meal. In terms of price, it cost approx R2600 (£130) at least 3 times as much as some of the very nice restaurants we have been enjoying and overall, whilst an interesting experience, for the price I feel it could be better.More

I came here for a super early dinner and sat at the bar/ kitchen area. I ordered 5 dishes, was half way through and the owner came over to me. He had been busy sitting down the other end of me so wasn’t in the...kitchen cooking. I’m assuming he went into the kitchen to just to see how my dinner was going. He was concerned what I ordered might all be similar flavors and that I needed to break them up. He then instructed his staff to give me two dishes in between my last 3 free of charge. The most amazing experience/ hospitality I’ve ever had. Such a cool guy and super passionate about giving customers the best experience. It filters down through all of his staff too. I’ve never had someone care that much about my experience at a restaurant and probably never will. The food!! The food is amazing, un real. I ate way too much but totally worth it. Everything I had was delicious. Soft shell crab and tempeh ribs were ridiculous!!! Very cool place and will definitely be going back again. One of the best meals and experiences in a restaurant I’ve ever had. A no brainer if you’re in Jimbaran.More
