We got the ferry from Fort Kochi to Ernakalum just to visit this place having seen it on Rick Stein's India show. It's a busy, no-frills place but the fish Masala (served in a banana leaf) makes it definitely worth a visit. The place was heaving with locals when we went which is always a good sign. Very cheap and... More

Reading so much about Shappu curry in TA visited Shappu curry last week. Went there at 1210 pm. The place was virtually empty. Cleanliness is much desired in this place. Ordered meals with Beef curry and Karimeen Pollichathu. Beef was exellent. The Fish not up to expectation. Paid 573 rs for three meals and specials. Will visit again.

Don't be fooled by the exterior, try everything and especially the fish polichattu! It's delicious, home style food.

No fancy interors or even exteriors. Don't be alarmed. If you are used to the fineries in life, leave them behind for an explosive journey of great traditional Shappu food taste. Things get very serious once the food is served. Piping hot. Screaming spices. Traditional fares. All a fine medley of a great gastronomical extravaganza... I chose a traditional meal... More

It resembles the old toddy shops. Worn out look, no ambience, no luxury seats, but to compensate all this you get good shappu curry preparations. Tasty with reasonable price.

I heard a lot about “Shappu Curry” from my friends. So, when I visited cochin, I decided to have lunch from there. The ambiance will not attract you from outside and inside. But the food is awesome. We ordered Tapioca(Kappa in Malayalam), Pearl Spot (Karimeen pollichathu in Malayalam), Pomfret fish curry(Avoli in Malayalam). The fish was superb and mouthwatering. But... More
