We ate here at Spice Root twice, and on both occasions the food and service was excellent. On our first visit my partner had Kerala chicken and I had Aloo Gobi, both delicious , my partner asked for his to be spicy but not too much so, he got exactly what he wanted, just the right amount of heat for... How lucky were we to be staying in a Fabulouse Homestay Mother Tree... And even better that it is just a few minute walk from this haven of a restaurant .... First opinions ..it looked very clean ..comfortable..and we could see that effort had been made to make the place look attractive too....we were greeted by Reshmi...please forgive me if... More

Fish 'n' chips has changed name: the sign board now says Spice Root Restaurant. The new name is better reflective of the food served. We were lucky to visit at lunch time as the specialty fish dish, Fish Pollichathu, was available. The price was a bit steep (350) compared to other dishes (nice pea & cashewnut curry was 130), but... The restaurant now named Spice Root where the dishes from breakfast to dinner are cooked in a homely style and is one of the best in the area. The restaurant attracts mostly tourists because of the tasty cuisines, excellent service and affordable rates. I tried the "Fish Pollichathu" and Biriyani too and must say that they were just excellent. The... More

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Very friendly woman who serves the guests. Nice food and great variety in food. Compared to the overpriced restaurants nearby an absolute must be/see. Reasonable prices!!

We would like to recommend this restaurant because you will get really good breakfast ( we loved the Indian breakfast or masala dosa) as well as a great meal for lunch or dinner. And the prices are reasonable. Don't be too early in the morning, they open at 9:30am.

Lovely little rustic no frills outside courtyard restaurant in a convenient location opposite the Basilica in Fort Kochi. Food is excellent, from dosa to Chicken 65 to Kerala fish curry, well cooked, tasty and authentic, and such superb value for money! A lovely local restaurant that serves tourists and locals alike, without inflated prices. The lady who runs it is... More

This was a gem we found across the cathedral. The lady who helped us was very friendly and the food was amazing. Probably the best dinner we had in Kerala. I would recommend the spicy fish grilled in bananaleaf or the mango fish curry!!! Very cheap too...mains were ranging between 175 and 350 rupees.

We loved this place for the extremely friendly staff, especially the lady who seems to be running this place and of course the awesome food! They offer great Indian dishes and seafood, very well spiced and tasty! They know how to tickle your tastebuds with a variety of different fresh herbs and spices. Highly recommended! We went there twice.

Thank Inesja

A very good restaurant in town. I have tased the food in almost all the restaurant in Fort Kochin but this seems to be unique. Their speciality in sea food is excellent. I recommend all of you who vist Fort Kochin to try out in this restaurant at least once. I guarantee that u will never forget it.
