great european food here, schnitzels, roast meat, potatoes etc. definitely recommend a visit. the desserts were great too. lovely staff. eat here

This is an excellent small restaurant in the Kaifaqu area. Superb German and Czech Republic style food. Much better than the chain restaurants of German food. Great couple runs operations and cooks. The owner and main chef studied culinary in Europe. Great food and great service. Foreigners and Chinese alike enjoy this hidden jewel.

If you look for western food this will be a good option. Food is standard but good. Some european beers are offered. The owners are very freindly. The service is somewhat slow but I wasn't in a hurry so it wasn't an issue for me.

Following the Tripadvisor ratings and the location in the Color city tourist trap, we decided to explore this restaurant. Neighboring restaurants were too seedy.
I am not sure if we hit a bad day or if the restaurant has gone down, but the experience was disappointing.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was empty, no patrons, and we went upstairs.
With a bit of patience and pictures we could explain to the waitstaff what food and drinks we liked. Quite unusual to eat Austrian style cuisine in China.
The experience was not great, either the cook took a day off or ingredients were stale. Not much flavor to the food.
Get used to patrons smoking in the restaurant.
A large pint of beer helped washing the disappointment down.

I’m researching western restaurant in this area.
Toni Kocht is one of good restaurant.
Based on Austrian cuisine, they offer western menu.
And visitors can communicate with them in English.
Wine variety is not so much.

I have been visited Tony Kocht many times since from 2012. They have keeping the same great flavor and nice service. There is no regrets if you looking for nice Western food in Dalian development Area. I recommend for lunchtime

Always visit this restaurant if close. Good service with good food to prices which are ok. I enjoy german food as austrian.

Already came to this restaurant, dozens of times.
All monthly visits do Dalian, I come to this restaurant with colleagues 1 time at least.
The ambience is nice. The music selection is pretty good, and the decoration either enjoyable. Very calm so that we can be with a group of people relaxed, and in conversation.
The staff is very friendly. Only English, as in most restaurants in Dalian, is a problem. But on this above the average the English level.
The food is pretty good. Its a Austrian restaurant, but has several Western options besides Austrian. I have tried several dishes from menu and cannot choose 1. I can assure, that from the list if you choose what you most like, you will not fell disappointed. The pastas, chicken, garlic shrimps, sea bass, are on my favorites.
The menu is the same for 3 years, that I came this city. My advise is that some new ideas can be brought to the menu.
A good option in Dalian that I will continue to visit when at Dalian.
I recommend.
Missing something to be 5. I go there 1 time, but not 2 or 3 in a week, like we do in other options like Lenbach.

All dishes served in a good quantity. All times I chose delicious options. My preference is number 21 (tenderloin stake with gratin potato).
If you ate at Dalian Development Area (DDA) you must try this wonderful restaurant

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and the food was great. Atmosphere was nice, quiet and relaxed. The service was friendly and helpful. A must visit when in town.

Western food available for those who miss it. Chinese food available for those who want to eat relatively cheap.
Food is great, portions are not bad, price is a mid-range to high. I usually cook a lot of these dishes myself for a lot cheaper than it is sold here for, but you are paying for the English service, accessible area, outdoor or nice indoor seating, import beer and smiling faces :)
Got a hot day? Want to impress, this may not be super impressive but its a nice step up from bone and shell riddled floors and tables of smaller chinese restaurants. Open fairly late, close to the nightlife, about 80 kuai to get a cab from here to Jinshitan or Dalian, stick with Uber or Didi

I suggest the fillet (from Australian farm) tasty and soft but the other dishes are good as well.
The location is perfect for a work dinner.

Toni Kocht's new location replaced a local favourite, The Irish Cafe, and quickly became more popular. Austrian-German food in China? Why not?! The Jinshitan location is a hit with Canadians and Americans who live in the area, as well as the locals.

In terms of Western food, especially affordable western food...your choices are slim. In this area, everything costs more because it is geared towards laowei (old foreigners).
It has an interesting location (near the "red light district") and has great Western food; however when you live in Donbei China...really what do you have to compare it to? They have another location in Jinshitan that just recently opened up as well (Early 2015). The food is good but the price is still, well, I am not going to eat there every night of the work or every weekend. Comparatively the prices make sense for western food but if it were back home it would not fly as an overly successful "average" restaurant, it would need to trim down into a small town family restaurant style OR buckle up and turn into straight up fine dining.
It is nice that this place offers the fine dining feel for a cheaper price than it would be back home but I personally have no issue with going for La Mian or Jiao zi more often :P
