It's important to note there is 1 solid food dish (fried dumplings) and 3 soup options. The dumplings are good and this is probably one of the least expensive meals you can have but nothing to write home about. If you are a westerner, you will likely not enjoy the experience. The service is bad, even for China (there is... More

We arrived in Suzhou the night before and was recommended this for lunch by our hostel. After looking for the place in vain but with many friendly guidlines from a bunch of locals(who ALL (rightfully) knew where and what it was) we finally found it, ordered and got our dumplings straight off the pan. It was love at first bite(helped... More

Some say these are better than the shengjianbing in Shanghai. I'm not a connoisseur but these were delicious. And an incredible deal with 8/10 Y. I think you're supposed to have them with soup, but because it was about 93 degrees by the time we ate lunch, and we're Americans who aren't used to eating very hot food on very... More

There's a reason this place is one of the top restaurants in Suzhou. It's almost worth a day trip from Shanghai just to get some of YaBa's fried dumplings. They are crispy on the bottom and filled with amazingly delicious hot pork and broth. There's no English signage or menu and the staff doesn't speak English, but don't let that... More

YaBa in Chinese means deaf, and this reference is for the elderly owner who is profoundly deaf. There are a lots of ShengJian restaurants and street food outlets in Suzhou, but this one, in my opinion, is by far the best. And it seems not just I think this! In China a restaurants quality can be judged by its popularity... More

These were the best fried dumplings (filled with tender pork and soup) we ate in all of China. $12 filled the bellies of 4 good eaters with 20 dumplings and 2 bowls of lamb soup.

Great dumplings. No English spoken, but we managed and it was fun. From exit 4 at linden lu metro, walk north (left side of the street) several blocks. This location is very convenient to the old city sights and gardens.

Good food, pretty tasty and very very cheap. Noodles and dumplings are good and the little balls are delicious

Chinese people wouldn't call these dumplings (jiaozi) but buns (baozi), but since I'm writing a review that is easy for foreigners to understand, it's simpler to just call these fried (shengjian) dumplings! I ate shengjianbao at a lot of little shops in Suzhou, and they were all good. This place is very central in the old town and, if you're... More
