Great hotel, centrally located with a fantastic breakfast. The rooms are good but get a bit hot at night. The street can get very loud

The hotel is located right in the heart of the city. There is free parking at the rear and it is easy to reach everywhere by foot. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was also small, however it was nicely equipped. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast that was included. The staff were not particularly welcoming and it took... More

Lovely wallpaper and photos inside. Well worth a drink at the bar. Actually the drink is pretty ordinary but the decor is nice

Brought here twice as a group, first night made the horrible mistake of having the "vegetarian" option: Cilantro with over cooked Couscous, and the second night, it was dry-dry chicken. Neat stuff to look at on the walls, though.

I wanted to stay in this hotel, even though it was expensive, because if its association with polar explorer Ernest Shackleton. I was able to get a suite for one night which I shared with my friend. It was on the small side, and the decor was not special, but the bathroom was spectacular, and included a bidet. We paid... More

Remodelled within the old 'palace' looks an impressive buildling from the outside. Not a big hotel, and quite expensive. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and quite individual, though perhaps the decor is a little tired. The downstairs function rooms are impressive, as is the greenouse-like conservatory where breakfast happens and the restaurant is sited. Most people will come here... More

For the local historic importance of the building and the location, I would give it four stars. The room we had was also very nice, but for everything else i.e. the service, the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast, it definitely does not deserve more than 3 stars The hotel only serves very average breakfast, while in the Shackleton... We stayed a few nights at this beautiful old hotel. If you love the architecture and history of a bygone era this is a wonderful stop. However, if you are looking for a peaceful nights sleep you will find it difficult since it is located in the heart of town. Between vehicles with no mufflers, people going by in their... More

if you look somewhere to eat, look somewhere else, there are better alternatives downtown. Service is nice, but is the food quality that is not good.
