Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been there two time. Very nice atmosphere and delicious vegan food. Unfortunately I had to leave Oruro but in next visit I'm sure to eat in Govinda restaurant. Thank you very much

The food was a bit plain. Order their homemade sauce for dipping. Great atmosphere and a pleasant surprise to find in Oruro, considering Bolivia cuisine is very meat and starch heavy.

I've been in Oruro for a whole week. And the first thing I asked around about a veggie place. Located near the the corner of 06 de octubre and Ayacucho. The first impression you have is the stairs leading you up to the place. And...of course the background music related to the krishna culture. Men's bathroom was okay, however there was no soap available. There is a weekly menu right in the counter... To begin with, you get a «mate», which is a tea; although there's a chance to get a juice with water/milk/soy; this «mate» was very sweet, I didn't like it, and I had the same sensation with the dessert. The whole lunch comes in a tray, and there are 2 sizes: medium and full (12 BOB and 18 BOB). you get a VERY small amount of vegetables, a soup which was OK. and depending on the menu you get a second dish at the other side of the tray. If you ask food to go, you get charged +1 BOB and no spoons, forks nor knives. So by the end you can stay at an OK restaurant, expect no more.More

This is the best, healthiest food in Oruro. All vegetarian and simple/tasty - Highly recommended. Very inexpensive too!

This restaurant stands alone in an otherwise meat eating culture. It has, however, an excellent Almuerzo del Dia, consisting of a soup main dish, bread, drink and dessert. All prepared deliciously and nutritiously and served in a very friendly atmosphere. A pleasant surprise in this...highland city!More

I ate in this restaurant tonight. As the guy was giving me the menu I sensed something was a little unusual about the way he was looking among the menus available. I speak Spanish and the menu was in Spanish. I dismissed it as nothing...and ordered plato vegetariano. It was only shredded vegetables and a soya burger on top with some chips. To drink I had a fruit juice. Before I paid the bill I asked to see one of the other menus (they are different colours) and the prices on the tourist menu (it was red) are 50% higher than that the locals pay. I was suspicious as there were about 10 other tables new seated while I was eating and nobody else got the red menu. When I challenged them they gave me the lower price. If you like being ripped off and paying 50% more than others for crap food eat here. PS Most restaurants in Oruru have the two menu system whereby tourists pay up to double price. To avoid this I now only eat somewhere where the price is displayed clearly for all to see and wont eat anywhere they hand me a menu. If you can just avoid the place its a dump.More

We went to Govinda on the back of a recommendation in the Lonely Planet, and can honestly say it was the worst food we ate in the entire time we were in Bolivia. Our party of five ordered eight dishes between us and each and...every one was bland, unimaginative and greasy, delivered with surly service too. Oruro is hardly a culinary hotspot, but there are far better places than Govinda in town.More
