My partner and I had a lovely dinner at Bayt Al Wakeel. Tucked away in the middle of the Old Souk, it boasts great views of the Dubai creek and a lovely spot to watch the boats travel across the creek. Our food was tasty and very reasonably priced, service was fast and attentive. We would definitely recommend.

8 adults family. Booked a table on the outdoor terrace, but it was jolly cold - unseasonable weather. 14 degrees :( .... However, the manager loaned up very warm, full-length traditional robes so we were cosy! All food very good. Tabbulah was very minty: not much bulgar wheat, but the kebabs and chips (french fries) were served on charcoal burners... More

When visiting Dubai Creek there arent mant restaurants directly near the creek itself. This is one of them. The traditional food is really good. The view is outstanding!

After visiting the Gold and Spices Souks, we took one of the small boats (like US $0.27) to cross the creek, it dropped us just in front of the Bayt Al Wakeel. We didn't know about the place, but decided to have dinner over there. It was a fantastic experience!, the food was good, we order grilled meats, and others... More

It's really comfortable to sit besides the shore to take dinner. I ordered a fired noodles, fired rice and seafood salad. The overall food quality is average but the seafood was tasted good.

A short walk from Al Guhbaiba station but the entrance is via a small alley on the left thru the Souq. The outdoor terrace seating gives a good view of the Creek where we enjoyed a night of lights from the floating restaurants and water taxis that came back and forth frequently. Food was excellent, the Hummus and Shish Taouk... More

Very traditional Middle Eastern fare. Well executed and of course the options for drinks do not include alcohol. However the fruit drink options are very nice. Have been here four or five times over the years and what I most like is the boating activity on Dubai Creek. You are sitting on a wooden structure extending out into the creek... More

Whenever we have had visitors in Dubai have always taken them to this restaurant. It location is wonderful Delete and you can sit back an enjoy a wonderful meal whilst watching the world go by. After a meal you must jump on an abra and visit the spice and gold souks on the opposite river bank! The staff are always... More

After visiting the Dubai Mall we returned to our hotel and then off to Bayt Al Wakeel for a late lunch. This restaurant is on a wooden terrace right next to the Creek. Great atmosphere, some of it diesel fume fed, but not a problem. The abras crossing the Creek contribute to the atmosphere with their busy movement back and... More

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
