A lovely restaurant in a house serving too Laotian food. We sat upstairs and tried a range of different foods; river weed (our favourite), soup, vegetables, large and more. All nicely flavoured and well cooked. On the main street in Luang Prabang, it is easy to find. Staff were efficient and meals came out quickly.

Came with a couple of travel buddies in late April for lunch. When we arrived the restaurant had a power cut so the fans weren't working, but they were so nice and brought us cold towels to help us cool down. The service staff were very friendly and patient - they recommended us to try the taster platter and were... More

I have to recommend both these activities, eating at Tamarind but MUST DO is the cooking class. The second one is a highlight of my stay in Laos, learned about traditional lao food and how to cook it. The chef was great and the location (15' from LP, they take you with a tuktuk) beautiful! The food actually turned out... More

My host recommended this as a very good restaurant but I was sadly disappointed. Not by the food mind you but the service. The lady in charge acted like she was disgusted and would rather be anywhere else. I chose a table by the river and they asked me to move when I larger group came which was rude in... More

A must try place when you visit Laos. Try their tasting platters, tamarind juice, lemongrass chicken. Order everything :) This place is awesome.

The service was very good with waiting staff being polite and attentive, but not overly so. They start the service with a complementary bowl of bamboo chips something we had not tasted before and a nice snack. The food was tasty with the menu largely Laos dishes. Our favourite was the stuffed lemongrass. I had the buffalo salad and my... More

Unlike Thai food, Laos cuisine is not so exceptional, hence it may be difficult to impress. The food served at the Tamarind Restaurant is above the rest, with excellent service. We had the opportunity to try the 'Pun Pa' (Laos Fish Wraps) when they served BBQ fish on Friday nights. Starting with sticky rice with a colourful tasting platter of... More

Restaurant was a lunchtime recommendation from our guide. For lunch it was sufficient. We not recommend for evening, better options available. The non-alcoholic drinks however were very popular with my extended family, so good for all ages.

Be prepared for an awesome experience for your taste buds. The place is not pretentious, with a warm and simple atmosphere. Nice shaded terrace and also some tables along the Nam Khan River. It is advisable to come early or book in advance.
