The tavern is very busy and can be very hot and miss with food quality for example one meal as had a great steak for $33 and well worth the value . A few nights later for $43 we had the worst T bone steak ever and could not even cut through it as it was so fatty.
The manger did reduce our bill when we complained and understand that it’s hard when they rely on what’s shipped to the island .
Very nice position by the sea .

I came here about 10 years ago when I came for work and I'm back here for work again. The place hasn't changed one bit and the staff make sure you get looked after both in terms of well-priced drinks and then the food. As others have said it's not cheap (remember where you are though - no food is cheap here really) but I have to say that the barramundi and then the salmon were both sensational. My mate had surf and turf and the steak was enormous. Cannot fault the place - do yourself a favour and head here for sundowners and a pub meal!

Arrived when it was not so busy, got ignored for some time and finally someone noticed me standing at the bar to place an order. Waited about 30 min to get my meal which was ok. The grilled fish was overdone and tasted very dry. I paid about 42 dollars for this pub meal and a drink. My impression was that this restaurant is somewhat chaotic, mainly in the bar area where several staff running under each others feet..

As one of the only locations on Christmas Island that was conveniently located and open most of the week, this was our go-to three times during our stay. Unfortunately, it did not get better with each visit. Two times out of the three visits my meal was not served until my husband had eaten over half of his meal…and on both of those occasions, both of our meals (him steak and me fish) were grossly over cooked. Vegetables are in short supply here on the island, and unfortunately this showed on the plate too. If you’re vegetarian (or pescatarian like I am), then ignore the “Vegetarian Friendly” claim because you have one choice only: basic, tomato based pasta…. But only if the staff can work that out for you. Apparently it can be confusing 🤷♀️
Look, it’s got a nice view and cheap alcohol…. so maybe it should just stick to being a watering hole and not an eatery… but one that needs to remember it’s NOT a bloody nightclub and turn the bloody music down.

On going there the first time, they advised that some items on menu were not available as they have not had a supply boat in since November. No problem because what is available is delicious. Good size pub meals but not pub standard, food is of a very high quality. We had the sirloin steak and it was the best steak we have had in years, perfectly cooked, moist and full of flavour. We have also had the barramundi and their fish and chips, everything has been delicious. Tables are on the verandah overlooking the ocean, and coves are lowered if it rains. Service is also first class, very friendly and efficient staff. We have been there 3 times so far and tonight will be the 4th visit. Cannot get enough of the great food. Our favourite restaurant on the island

Its not open every night of the week so you will need to check opening dates. The bar is popular with locals and has a wide-screen TV for sporting events. The verandah allows for seated dining. We ate the fish - Unless you are a massive eater, note that the meals are really big. There were three of us and we ordered just two fish and chips - it was more than enough.

When we arrived we were told the pub didn’t have any food as no chef but luckily it Re-opened when we were there.
Food was great and you could sit outside which is good on hot nights, especially with covid and mask restrictions still in place.
Couldn’t fault the food or service! Excellent 😃

Lots of outdoor seating overlooking the Ocean. Booking recommended if you want one of these tables. The snapper on special was outstanding, so went the following night but the special was squid, and already sold out……shows the specials do actually seem to rotate.
Casual and friendly atmosphere.
There is a micro brewery on site, and the Pale Ale was very respectable.

Long term Golden Bosun Tavern Chef, Josh, is back from overseas. Good steak and chips. Didn’t get to try any fish as it was his first night back. Plenty of good cold beer and a small wine list. Not open Monday at all and usually opens after 4pm other days

We ate here twice during our stay on Christmas Island. Drinks good value (Corona's $7ea, Gin 'n tonic's $6ea). Meals are large and well made, although probably a little more expensive than Perth, but that is to be expected. Can vouch for the Chicken Parmigiana $37, Fish 'n Chips $32 and pizza $32. We had good service at the table, staff were friendly and efficient. Had a little longer wait up at the bar, but not enough to get impatient. If you get here early you have a wonderful view over the ocean and then of the sunset. We missed it, but apparently there is live music on Saturday nights.

We ate there twice.during our stay and were not disappointed one bit. Can get very busy so get in and order meal by 6pm, but when ever your meal will be excellent.
Overlooking the ocean it is the best place for a cold beer and experience true paradise

While staying at Christmas Island we ate here for 3 dinners! Great food and great service, with a fantastic ocean view!! The Sunset from the deck was amazing each night we were there! They have a good choice considering the location to bring food in!!

This is a pub, plain and simple. But it has a view to die for, laid back, friendly and efficient service, and fresh, simple and well cooked meals. It is all you want really on a tiny tropical island in the Indian Ocean!

A great pub with a great view. I've been to Christmas Island a couple of times and this is our go to place as it is close to our accommodation. Magnificent sunsets and a great place to chill at the end of the day.Great pub grub with specials that change every night. Not open on a Monday.

We had dinner several times here as it was close to our accomodation but we were very happy with the food and service was excellent. Fairly limited menu but it changed each night and the meals were very large.
