Hi ther - I saw you on the TV. Was it your Grandmother who had the Malaysian restaurant in Flying fish cove? This would be in the 1960's

What a great find. Idah Kitchen was recommended to us by another hotel guest so we tried it. Very basic cafe but great service and even better food. Sitting on the veranda heating breakfast with a magnificent view over Flying Fish Cove. Service was very...friendly and we felt very welcome here. But the food, absolutely delicious. We have had the fried egg roti 2 days in a row now and it will be 3 days tomorrow, our last on the island. The other food on the menu looks great and others have said it is delicious. Roti and a cup of coffee, $18 for the 2 of us - bargain! Cannot get that price for 1 person in Perth, nor that delicious a meal. Carries us through until evening dinner.More
We ate here a couple of times during our stay on Christmas Island, our first meal I had Nasi Lamak, lovely white fleshed fish with a spicy sambal over rice was delicous, my wife had the roti, it comes with a nice coconut cream curry...sauce and was also delicous. Our next meal was again the roti, the murtabak and a couple of curry puffs, all wonderful, cant rate this place highly enoughMore
Located at the Malay club, idahs serves traditional Malaysian food. It is the best value place on the island with friendly and helpful staff. Loved our morning breakfast visits.
