A wonderful mid week lunch. Maito presents a nice and spacious atmosphere, with different areas both inside and out. The addition of some bench seats in the main room has taken it from "chic" to "cafeteria" (just my humble opinion), but still a lovely restaurant....More

We were surprised by the quality and creativity: carimanolas were amazing! Carpaccio and the tacos as appetizers! We had a good wine and excellent chupe and main original dishes!

The restaurant was pretty hard to locate, amidst the buildings in Calle 50, as the address doesn’t specify any building number or identifying characteristics. When we eventually found it, we were surprised to see that it is actually a (pleasant) bright yellow-green coloured house that’s...More

We knew someone from Panama that took us to this restaurant. It would be hard to find so if you go I suggest you take Uber. This restaurant had such a good vibe to it. We felt very comfortable and not rushed. The service is...More

This restaurant is now at the forefront of innovation when it comes to Panamanian food. What Mr. Castrellón, the chef and owner, has achieved quite remarkable, i.e. raising local food and its ingredients to a new level that a typical local would not identify as...More

The restaurant is quite hidden, but with a nice atmosphere. I had a lot of expectation as it is one of the best 50 in the world. The octopus cheviche was one of the gratest starters I have ever had, but the main (stuffed calamari,...More

Maybe we ordered the wrong thing getting the tasting menu but we thought it would provide the best highlights of their menu. Instead we experienced a salty, afterthought of throw away food. And they were out of every wine choice we wanted in a selection...More

I know that this restaurant has received a lot of appreciations and is on the Top 50 restaurants in Latin America San Pelegrino, but I have to say that I was not impressed after visiting restaurants like Carmen or Leo in Colombia. The service was...More

Went there for a lunch in a short stop-over in Panama City. It's a pity that I didn't get enough time to have the tasting menu. Ordered a soup, an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert a la carte. Impressed with the caring service...More

We met with local friends for lunch. Ordered lamb tacos, short rib dumplings and carimañolas to start-all delicious. Followed with black-ink rice (squid) with scallops and fish in curry-coconut sauce. All beautiful and tasty. This was our first truly-Panamanian meal. Don't miss it!

I am not 100% certain, but I believe Maito is closed on Sunday. Things may have changed, so call. I was there on a Monday.
