If you are in MVD you cannot miss this restaurant. By far the best "cocina de autor" in ciudad vieja. Tight space (estrecho) with a couple of seats at the bar. Not recommended for larger groups.

It's not easy finding a restaurant like this in Montevideo. You'll definitely find some great flavor and interesting dishes. If you like salads, they have some really good ones. It's casual and price is good for a restaurant like this one. I recommend it and...More
It's an open kitchen where you sit on the counter and see the chefs prepare the delicious food. Constantly changing menu of very carefully chosen ingredients. Great deserts also. Smaller portions, but therefore reasonably priced
We were urged to check on Estrecho (on charming Calle Sarandí) by a local friend. The bright teal exterior opens up to a bar-style seating where you watch cooks prepare deliciousness. Small menu with tasty wine options (and other drinks too) makes choosing easy; good...More
Great service, food that is prepared with great seasoning and care! The chef is the master in his finetuned kitchen behind the counter with hungry patrons able to watch their food preparation. There are only stools to sit on but the food makes up for...More
A very busy place - we had to stop back by a few times before two seats became available at the counter - WELL WORTH THE WAIT! Besides, there is lots to see and do on Sarandi anyway. Sitting at the counter (the only option...More
Lovely little spot for a relatively quick lunch in downtown Montevideo! It's French-like cuisine is served up at a long counter where guests sit side by side on tall stool chairs. Quick, friendly service and super meals make this my favorite place for lunch in...More
We ate after walking the old city on the early eve, sat outside and enjoyed the day's end. Had an excellent 'lomo' with salad, the drinks were very good too. Highly recommend!
One of the better lunch places in Montevideo for a good lunch! Small place - you can only sit at the bar and it is always full!
