My partner and I are avid wine tasters and have visited many wineries. The Bouza winery is beautifully done and is set up to show the wine making process to visitors. We had an engaging and charismatic guide who led us through many of the...areas of the bodega used for wine making. While it was not the most detailed tour we have ever had, it was very interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable. The best part of the tour, however, was the five course lunch and wine pairing that we had. It was one of the best meals we had during our two week trip to Argentina and Uruguay, as well as one of the most romantic. The Bouza restaurant is apparently well known, and each course as well as the paired wine, was delicious. While I think the wines are still a little young, I do highly recommend a visit to Bouza, and if your budget allows for it, the multi-course lunch with the wine tasting.More
Bouza is about a 30-minute drive from Montevideo. Once we arrived, we stood in line to get registered with other guests who arrived by other tour companies or simply by car on their own.
We got to the vineyard about 10:30 AM in the morning...and we began our tour at 11 AM with Pedro. He took our group of about 50 people outside and said he would speak in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Pedro was an excellent guide and very familiar with wine making.
We had opted for a wine paired lunch after our tour. Pedro bid us a fond farewell and got ready for his next tour. We were ushered into a very nice and expansive dining room. Lunch was in a semi-structured 5 course meal including dessert. There were two choices for each course and a wine was paired with each.
I’d recommend this tour if you want to try Uruguayan wine and sample a wide variety while enjoying lunch. If you enjoy the wine making history and experience – it’s just a bonus to have a wine paired lunch.More
For $25 they give you 4 glasses of wine paired with a variety of Urugarian food. The restaurant looks great; we did not eat there. The tour is terrific and is under 1 hour. Great collection of antique cars in the tasting room.
We were visiting on a cruise ship. We arranged to visit this winery locally. It is beautifully set in the country, but not far outside Montevideo--maybe 20 minutes' drive. The reception was very cordial and the wines were wonderful, especially the blends with Tannat or...pure Tannat. They furnish nice snacks to go with each wine and you can purchase more food (and wine) very reasonably. Finally, they have a beautiful exhibition of antique cars in amazing condition. If you like wines and wineries you will love this place.More
I was invited for a lunch at Bodega Bouza, which is a beautiful (small) chateau surrounded by nature. It is located only about 30 minutes outside of Montevideo, in Las Brujas but you are encountered by a completely different scenery of endless green vineyards. The...lunch menu was fantastic and enjoyable from the appetizer to dessert. Wine pairing was superb. I wish I had bought some bottles at the store but did not have the chance. I strongly recommend it to anyone but be sure to make a reservation in advance as it is very popular especially on Saturdays.More
We spent the entire day at Bodega Bouza for our work anniversary celebration. We did the tour, wine tasting, had lunch and then we just hung out and relaxed on site.
The entire place is beautiful. The wine tasting had great food pairings and the...wine was very nice. Lunch was AMAZING!!! just incredible! The meat was perfect, the passion fruit ice cream to die for, and the coffee to wrap it all up, just great! A great day trip to enjoy with grown ups (probably not suitable for kids).More
Bouza experience was worth every penny. The vineyard is beautiful. Tour guide spoke good English and the lunch was a 5-course gourmet meal with wine pairings. Bouza experience includes transportation, which was a small shuttle bus. The restaurant is beautiful and the tasting room is...unique (showcases vintage cars)More
