The place has reasonably authentic French food, but not precisely gourmet. The charm of the place is the airy old building and the fact that the restaurant is run by French-speaking nuns...many from former colonies in Asia and Africa...so it has a diverse feel that my son enjoyed. The furnishings and feel are quite basic, however, so I could not... More

This was one of my best meals in two and half months of travel in South America. I came here on a special date with my girlfriend and I absolutely loved my meal. Now finding the restaurant wasn't too difficult, but we had to ring a doorbell and talk into an intercom at night to get in. A nun came... More

What a delightful, different, unique restaurant. Delicious, home-cooked French and French-colonial (read Vietnamese with a hint of Afrique) food, graciously served in a beautiful old colonial building in the heart of Lima by nuns from Vietnam, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Guinea. Beyond the daily menu, the real treasure here is the 'a la carte' menu, where French classic like Coquille... More

A place ran by nuns mostly from Vietnam and Africa run this place located right in the heart of Lima. If you are visiting, stop by this place on your way to the churches that surround this restaurant. They have basic menus that change daily at very affordable prices or you could order a variety of food ordered right off... More

This restaurant has always belonged to some French nuns who serve Peruvian and French food. At lunch time is full of Limeños who work around the area and at night time they serve French food. Prices are very affordable and the nuns are mainly from the French colonies in Congo and Vietnam. They are very nice and hospitable. At night... More

This place is run by nuns and we stopped by for lunch one day when we were exploring the many beautiful churches in downtown Lima. There were 4 of us and we all selected the daily menu but selected different dishes. I've attached photos of a few of the dishes we tried. I particularly enjoyed the salmon which I had... More

We found "L'eau Vive" in the Lonely Planet's list of good restaurants and happened to get invited by a friend there, for lunch. This restaurant is situated in the heart of the city center and is run by french nuns. The place is clean and has a joyful ambience, the nuns are very polite and talkative (even if some of... More

Not only because the food is yummy and the price is reasonable (menu of the day including starter, soft drink, main course and dessert, costs you 18 sol only!!), but also because the lovely nuns there. I speak no French and very little Spanish, the nuns anyway welcomed us with warm smile and body language. I wish I could eaten... More

The restaurant was recommended to us by helpful staff at the Central Bank Museum, which is nearby and we are very happy that we heeded their advice. The staff was efficient and friendly and the French cuisine was terrific. I enjoyed a steak that was tender and flavorful and the potatoes Dauphin were memorable. After lunch we asked for help...
