Cholos Grill is a small restaurant located near the Plaza de Armas, where I got to check two more items off my Peru food list! First, I couldn’t leave Peru without trying guinea pig (cuy), a delicacy that goes back to Inca times. The (non-traditional) version I got here was a half guinea pig deep-fried and served over a beautifully plated yellow potato mash and a savory sauce.
Second, I had noticed that tons of restaurants around Peru offer set menus (“menu del dia” or “menu turistico”) for an almost unbelievable value (sometimes even less than the price of a typical main dish). Cholos Grill’s set menu was only 25 soles (about $7.50), and it came with a starter, entree, drink, and dessert! For the starter, I picked the simple yet delicious quinoa soup, which came with quinoa and lots of different vegetables in a savory broth. For the main, I tried the lomo saltado, a stir-fried dish of beef strips, onion, and tomato seasoned with soy sauce and served with fried potatoes and white rice. To drink, I tried the chicha morada (which I learned all about from one of our tour guides), a sweet “soda” made from purple corn! And finally, dessert was a small scoop of ice cream with a mix of three different flavors—a nice way to round out the meal. While still located in a touristy area, this restaurant definitely offered an unbelievable value, as well as genuine hospitality that felt a little bit homier than what you’d find at one of the more trendy, upscale places in town.

Our Cusco City-tour guide recommended this restaurant, and boy, he was right!
We went for dinner, and loved the food here. Their quinoa soup is great! The Lomo Saltado and the Lamb were very tasty as well.
They provided reasonable fast service as well, bu,t since we went in Dec, we were the only customer in the restaurant.
The price of food is slightly lower than that of the restaurants in the main square (Plaza De Armas), but, the quality and the taste of the food were really good!

We had a perfect evening at Cholos Grill. The food was more than perfect and the high level of service of Edy as well. Edy recommended the 'Trucha del valle' trout with a cauliflower mash and sauted vegetables (this dish was not on the menu, so ask for it!) It all tasted really good together. The look on the plate was really nicely made with little flowers. We also had the 'Lomo saltado'. A traditional dish from Peru which was perfectly cooked with a very good salty gravy.
As a desert we had the 'Alfajor con helado de caramelo', this was a tasting with different sauces, homemade ice-cream and fruits.
Highly recommended to go here! Price average compered to different restaurants in the surrounding, but the price is low if compared to the good quality of food. The service and the attention you get is also outstanding. Edy also speaks good English!

We went there expecting to find some great meat dishes and we're very surprised to also find some excellent vegan lasagna! I had the deep-fried cuy and was very pleased with it. The presentation was very beautiful. The prices were great. The restaurant was very clean, and our waiter Dennis, was super friendly and helpful. We had to go back and so we did and enjoyed another great meal! Their happy hour cocktails were a delight!

I had my first grilled Guinea pig here and the dish was full of delicious details. Besides the attentive service of señor Edy, the restaurant offers nice atmosphere at a great central location, an extended bar menu with a great selection of liqueurs, such as 26-year-old rum from Cusco. The “impossible cake“ for dessert was made with coca and maca and was something we‘ve never had before.

We stayed in Cuzco for 5 days and ate at a restaurants 3 times a day . Our experience at chollos was very pleasant and a great restaurant for family or adult couple. Our host Jhoel was extremely friendly and always attentive to our needs. His suggestions was on spot with the choice of our meal. The presentation of every dish was simply amazing and very colorful. The barman, Darwin, makes the BEST and I repeat the BEST drinks in town. Try the strawberry emoliente!!! Price is very accessible. The choice of deserts are simply sublime. I will surely go back to chollos, when I return back to Cuzco. Thank you Jhoel and Darwin, me and my family had a great time.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The menu is no ordinary menu. The food is gourmet style but still a substantial amount. Order the quinoa soup, it felt like tasting the very earth around Cusco. Edy was a great waiter. Was very attentive to what we needed and even gave an explanation of the ingredients in our foods, emblematic of Cuscos diverse fauna. Fairly priced and amazing service.

I highly recommend this restaurant! The food was amazing! My sister and I were just passing by, looking for a place to eat when we stumbled across this cute restaurant. We ended up ordering their ‘Menu’ which came with three meals! I would seriously recommend that you try the quinoa soup as it was especially delicious! As was the pollo saltado and the dessert of quinoa cake! The presentation of these meals were very beautiful as well! It was like a gourmet style meal! All only for 40 soles, which I think is very worth it! The service was also impeccable! My waiter, Edy, would even give us explanations of the meals and the ingredients in each meal! Overall, a very amazing restaurant!

Accidentally charged me 100 SOL extra, luckily I saw it after they'd put it in the machine and they were able to refund.
To make things worse, they add a Tip they choose themselves, in this case 15 percent.
They didnt provide a compete invoice/cheque so I didn't realise until I checked when I got home. Dishonest, avoid.

Edy, our waiter, was very patient with us as we tried to figure out the menu. He spoke English and helped us decide on what to eat. We tried two dishes - ceviche de trucho and cuy al horno (Guinea pig!). They were delicious! The chef, Egner, did a wonderful job preparing it and it looked beautiful and tasted amazing! We would definitely go back to this quaint restaurant.

Cholos Grill Is a fantastic combination of classic peruvian food with a western fine dining twist. I am a chef in united states married to a peruvian and I can say all of the classic elements of peruvian cuisine were present but with a style and presentation the would make any fine dining restaurant proud. Edy was our server and was fantastic and knowledgeable about everything, and Chef Egner put together a wonderful menu. I highly recommend if you are in cusco, it is the perfect combo of rustic peru and modern fine dining.

Me and my partner Jemma came here for dinner after being recommend by a friend and we were very glad we did. We tried Ceviche and Guinea Pig for the first time and we what an amazing first impression for both.. full of flavours and freshness, so was the Impossible Cake dessert made with coca leaves and we had ours with homemade ice cream! Our waiter Edy was very attentive and nice to speak to.. all in all we had a very pleasant experience and would recommend this place to anyone.

After 3 weeks in Peru, we were asked to try Cholos Grill by a sidewalk barker. It is superb! Everything we have tried has been perfect in both prentation and food taste and quality. Edy the waiter, and Carlos the bartender are everything you could ever ask for. And did I mention the prices are so reasonable. Don’t miss Cholo’s when in Cusco!
