My spouse and I had dinner at Marcelo. We had the alpaca steak with chilies and the chicken with goose berry sauce and potatoes. The alpaca was great, particularily if you like spice and zing. The chicken was also good, but was not as flavourful as the alpaca. Service was very attentive. Free potato chip apps were served. Prices were... More

We stumbled upon this place & didn't know unit later when we saw it in our guide book that it was so highly recommended. It's deserving of the recognition. We ate lunch on the rooftop terrace on a sunny day in September. Two of us ordered the quinoa and vegetable soup & another ordered the alpaca steak. We went for... More

We found this recommendation in our guide book and went without reservations, hoping to eat on the "rooftop patio". It was a chilly night, and when we asked for the rooftop, the girl looked a little baffled, but took us up there anyway. The patio is a couple of plastic chair-and-table sets with umbrellas on a tiny rooftop with amazing... More

Dishes here are amazing and tasty. I had the lomo soltado and it was absolutely fantastic. My friend and I dined on the early side during our first visit so we didn't need a reservation but if you go during peak hours, I would recommend making reservations ahead of time. Service was fantastic and so was the pisco sour. This place... More

Although there are many very good places to eat in Cusco, this restaurant was a welcomed surprise. They specialize in alpaca steaks, but really it was the "costillas de cordero" that stole the show. Delicious and tender lamb in a creamy cheese sauce. It is a bit pricy for Cusco standards, but was well worth the 44 soles!

This is the only restaurant review I've ever done and I'll keep it short and sweet. We enjoyed one of the best meals we've ever had here, and we are really into food. The Marcelo Batata had good service and a nice ambience but most of all amazing, interesting, unique and delicious dishes. It's not cheap by South American standards... More

We both had alpaca tenderloin with different sauces. Mine was the mango sauce, and it was heavenly. Both pieces of meat was cooked to perfection. The portions was just the right size, not too large and not too small. The sides was also well composed with interesting flavours.

We had dinner here and were greeted by helpful, fun, friendly yet professional staff. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and super delicious! The waitress spoke good English and even explained the origin of the food as well as how and with what it was made. Expect 35-45 sol for a main. Highly recommend!

The food was great and exquisite. First the appetizers are very tasty, typical peruvian but haute cuisine as well. The char-boiled alpaca tenderloin with mango and lime peppers sauce finally was just amazing!! We went there a second time because we couldn't get enough of this delicious food and would have liked to try everyting on the menu!

A touch off the beaten path. Has a few selections of Alpaca each cooked nicely. We also enjoyed a quinoa salad. There is a rooftop terrace seating as well. I believe they also have a cooking class.

Thank Scott T

Our kitchen offers both tradtional and avant garde cuisine, always focusing on rediscovering age-old recipes that allow us to take yesterday's flavors to today's table. Our specialty is Criolle and Andean cuisine where we highlight the essence of this beautiful mix of varieties that provides us with an endless array of flavors and that each Peruvian carries in their veins. In appreciation for all products we utilize we allow ourselves to play with new flavors and sensations based on the immense diversity of native products available: aji (Peruvian chili pepper), distinct passion fruits, avocados, rice and corn varieties are some of our favorites to explore with. Slow cooking dishes and the high flames of our grill are our favorite preparation techniques to use here at Marcelo Batata.
