Not only my parents favorite restaurant in Cusco but one of their favorites around the world. And I quote, "perhaps one of the best meals I've ever had." Again, "outgragouesly cheap for a gormet meal of that quality [US $19 each]." We also ate at both the #1 and #2 restaurants in Cusco, and my parents couldn't fathom how they... More

We had a 4 hour class with great food, laughs and instruction in Peruvian food and culture. Jose made it a great day for the whole family. We prepared ceviche, Lomo Saltado and learned to mix several Pisco drinks.

Probably the best meal I had in Peru. The alpaca was outstanding, as were all of the sides. Good atmosphere - all the larger groups seemed to be having a great time. I ordered the alpaca entree with the mushrooms (a must), and a martini, and felt like I got a pretty good bang for my buck. The only reason... More

Our G Adventures guide highly recommended this restaurant and we were happy he did. The food was very good and the service excellent. I had a generous portion of Alpaca filet which tasted like veal. Our clients all ordered different food and were happy with their orders. Go upstairs to the roof for an AMAZING view of Cusco by night.... More

We stayed there for dinner one night. The food is quite good, nothing to complain. Personally I was not such a big fan of the interior, it's pretty red, quite dark, not so special... And it was very noisy, but that could be because there were some other groups as well. It's a great restaurant but definetly not as special... More

We were referred to this restaurant by our guide. Part of a party of eight, my husband and I were the most severely challenged by the altitude this first day in Cusco. He was feeling particularly rocky at this point, after the climb up the hill from our hotel. Both the management and staff watched over us and made sure... More

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of eating lunch at Marcelo Batata Restaurant in Cusco, Peru! We loved the variety of Pisco drinks and authentic Peruvian dishes. We loved the Smoked Trout Causa, the Smoked Octopus & Purple Corn, and the Alpaca Saltada!! Our server, Willie, was great and very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking... We were staying at the Palacio Nazaranas and wanted a close by bite to eat. The restaurant was just a block from the hotel. WOW!!! We were SO impressed. We were greeted by Willie. He made us feel so welcome. We enjoyed an appetizer that was a cold mango shrimp salad and then a main of Aji Gallinda (I am... More

Great delicious Peruvian food and friendly staff that understood English. Good atmosphere. They served us free shots of the flavour infused pisco after dinner!

Amazing food. The quinoa soup is one of the best that I've ever had, and the lamb was cooked to perfection. The service could've been a bit better, we kept going to look for the server when we needed something, but once we got a hold of them, they were very nice.

Description
Our kitchen offers both tradtional and avant garde cuisine, always focusing on rediscovering age-old recipes that allow us to take yesterday's flavors to today's table. Our specialty is Criolle and Andean cuisine where we highlight the essence of this beautiful mix of varieties that provides us with an endless array of flavors and that each Peruvian carries in their veins. In appreciation for all products we utilize we allow ourselves to play with new flavors and sensations based on the immense diversity of native products available: aji (Peruvian chili pepper), distinct passion fruits, avocados, rice and corn varieties are some of our favorites to explore with. Slow cooking dishes and the high flames of our grill are our favorite preparation techniques to use here at Marcelo Batata.
