My father and I went here for my birthday, and we were not disappointed. The alpaca was delicious and the pisco sour was the best I've had in Peru so far.

I got taken here to dinner by a friend I made in Arequipa. It was a truly excellent and delicious meal. I tried alpaca for the first time and it was mouth watering. The restaurant is beautiful, the service is incredibly fast and the food was excellent!

The food was great. We had a trilogy of meat, and alpaca, and a great sweet wine. The service was quick and a waiter spoke English. We made a reservation as recommended. The place was totally full when we arrived.

Meatballs are a must-have!!! Asparagus dish and "la más sexy de peru" platter were also delicious. Our waitress Katherine was kind, lovely, and attentive. A she brought my brother a sparkling birthday cocktail and had everyone sing to him :) Highly recommend as best spot in arequipa

Recommended for lunch by a tour rep. The restaurant is quite small but has a great ambiance. We sat on the first floor on the balcony looking over the street. The meat is exceptional and I had a great steak. As it was lunch I went for a small cut and regretted I had had a larger cut as it... More

Nice resturant. I was not very hungry so order a salad. It was amazing. We had desert and drink after dinner in the bar area. A nice transition.

Fantastic place to eat dinner in Arequipa! It was recommended by a Peruvian friend and it did not disappoint. I had the volcanic meat selection and it was very very good (be sure too keep the bib on! even if it does look silly). Katy was a fabulous waiter and spoke very good English but also helped me along with... More

Description
The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish. This culinary concept was generated specially by the restaurant's proprietor and Chef, Michel Hediger from Switzerland. During the course of many years in Arequipa, Peru, he has developed an original gastronomic proposal which enables one to savour different kinds of food prepared in an exclusive, healthy and very natural style, so that the restaurant's customers might compare and enjoy the country's different flavours. Located in the Historic Centre of Arequipa, opposite the lovely Plaza San Francisco, the Zig Zag Restaurant, with its impressive cast iron staircase designed by the famous French architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, is a unique place to enjoy a gastronomic evening with a difference.
